This project forms the 4th experience package created by Tim Harris and Ken Hall, following up after the highly popular South Pacific based Papua New Guinea and Samoan experience packages of AYPY, NSTU and TAP, we finally arrive in the United States of America to develop the world famous island of Santa Catalina, and the Airport in the Sky

Features:

  • Entire island of Santa Catalina
  • HD rendition of KAVX Catalina Airport
  • HD rendition of Pebbly Beach heliport and Wrigley Marine Science center helipad
  • Beautiful crisp 7cm and 30cm photoreal
  • Sharp accurate 5m terrain mesh that combines with the photoreal to show off all the terrain features perfectly
  • Pristine autogen all lovingly hand-annotated...tree by tree covering the entire island!
  • The city of Avalon modeled in great detail, including the Catalina Casino, The Green Pier, Tuna club, yacht club, Antonio's Pizza and Caberet and many other well known buildings
  • Countless piers, docks and harbors located all around the island to moor up a boat or seaplane
  • Stand alone product - only requires the Orbx libraries

Coming very very soon, so prepare your favorite aircraft, seaplane, boat, ship, car (or even hiking boots!) and get ready to get out there and experience Catalina Island in true Orbx style!!!

Where's the lawn mower & long drop?:)

there is a long drop alright, alas no lawnmower, but plenty of cactus. buy a boat for this one, and you can drive from the airport to Avalon,so a 4WD might also be usefull

No lawnmower, Ken? I can not (and do not want to) believe that! A thorough inspection needs to be done, and I strongly hope you drop the green one somewhere for me...

There is a submarine, scuba tanks and old cranes on the docks

I have the freeware Aerosoft version, which is great, but this looks amazing! Release this weekend? :D

You misspelled harbor, but the rest looks like it is right up to par!

So many have done this little spot, some have done it pretty well, but nobody has done it to THIS level of detail.

Truly amazing.

Actually, you, misspelled harbour. I guess it depends which English-speaking country you're from. ;) This goes for the word, colour, too of course.

Very true, and I thought about changing it, but my Aussie blood just wouldn't let me, maybe two harbors  means one of each.

As long as you enjoy it I'm very happy

Wow-wow-wow, absolutely wow. A huge kudos Tim to you and the rest of the development team. I have been very tempted to purchase other payware offerings of KAVX, but could not pull the trigger on the purchase. Then this morning it was like Christmas snuck up on me when I opened this forum, the whole of Santa Catalina Island in all it's living detail that only Orbx can deliver. The funny thing is when I first saw "Welcome to the Airport in the Sky" my minds eye started imagining what the captures would look like. Well my minds eye did not do them justice.

A bit disappointed to see you leave the oceanic area for now, really hoped that you would continue on with another island paradise, still so many white dots in the sim world, especially since Catalina Island already has a rendition in FSX/P3D but anyways with your love to detail the scenery will be amazing as always and probably be better than the rendition from the other developer! But for the next experience package please move westwards again :D

Any buffalo?

There is the Buffalo Nickle restaurant at pebbly beach, there's so much already, but the buffalo will be in an update at some point, we have Jorge back with us and his animated beasties would look better than my statics, the buffalo are a feature and hopefully we can get them grazing before too long, thanks for the interest.

cheers

Exactly.  I am from the same country where this scenery is located, and so I feel like have a handle on how the local spell it out there in So Cal.  And this was meant to be a form of humor (or humour, if you must)  : )

Not going to debate which version of our rather scrambled language is correct.

Oh buddy, believe me, I am happy.  You and Tim could have done something in inner (or outer) Mongolia and I would have been happy.
