  1. I decided to take a chopper over to Avalon & have a look at the inhabitation either side of the town. It did throw up some graphics issues, which I refer to in the last shot. TTM (MSFS) Surely the banner on the Porta-Loo is not a commentary on MSFS?? Ridge running towards Avalon Past Avalon, at dawn. Same shot, set to dusk. This is the issue I came across when I got closer to the storage tanks. Obviously the housing should be wider than it is & I think some foreground items are missing. I don't have a top of the line video card, (6GB RAM), but have 32GB of RAM & an I7-10700F CPU. Up to now I have been able to run Graphics Global Rendering at 'High' without visual miscues. Anyone have any idea what might be causing the issues below? Any settings I could try?
  2. No more today after this, I promise. Took the Seneca for a quick run around Catalina, looking for the rarities. I found one item that to me, epitomizes the dedication & detail Ken & Tim put into this island. A fan. TTM (MSFS) Not sure what this, but I found it! Looks like a Boarding establishment. Now this is dedication. At the back of the Boarding House?, where maybe 1 in a 1,000 tourists would wander, there is a fan, & it is weathered!! Yes, they took the trouble to weather a fan in the middle of nowhere!! Self explanatory. Trucking along in the Seneca. Everyone appears to have satellite dishes, but the house in the foreground has a TV aerial too! Such detail!
  3. I took the Caudron from KAVX, around to Avalon. Used all the runway to take off, & had a closer look at the town using the Drone Camera. TTM (MSFS) This shows much of the character of Catalina Island that has been captured so well by Ken & Tim- windswept, with sparse vegetation. (The Island I mean) The nose is obscuring the cruise ship at Avalon. I like the way MSFS does cloud shadowing on the water. A nautical trio. The Boat Club. Stunning tile work. They look like painted ceramic tiles, & they have been aged to reflect the impact of the elements. Top class.
  4. Having unknowingly loaded the wrong Catalina, I dispatched it to the Bin & brought forth the correct Catalina, Orbx's version. A few shots from around the Airport. TTM (MSFS) Ken & Tim do some of their best detail work behind buildings. I can confirm the waste & recycle bins are genuine Waste Management items. The 2 door building behind is probably chiller storage. The blue car is a Dodge Challenger SRT, perhaps a Hellcat? The question is, is the lady on the right The Lady In Red? I did not realize Bison were on Catalina Island Interestingly, the red car has a Michigan number plate. Looking in from the West.
  5. I love the perfect rendition of Catalina island coastal areas. What a wonderful scenery...
  6. Another marvel sceney to discover in California not far from the coast of LA: Back to my plane for returning to mainland

  8. I had this sudden urge to try the Basler between John Wayne and Catalina Island. A bit drab looking but a pleasure to fly. Oh, and it takes a lot more cargo than the old piston engine DC-3.

  11. I took my first flight out of the recently purchased PAEN, Kenai Municipal in Southern Alaska. I was going to do a longer trip, but decided to shorten it to Anchorage, which I didn't realise was so close by. FSX ATC gave me clearance to land ahead of this guy, sorry mate. And this guy. Sorry. Please don't hit me! I just know he's shaking his fist at me and cursing. Cheers,
  12. Even those Pensacola Cats need some vacation. Taking off with our PBY Catalina at Golden we are therefore heading for Banff National Park with Lake Louise and its Luxury Hotel. Enjoy And there is Lake Louise already, only a few turns away... On final... Now let´s give the tourists at Chateau Lake Louise a show they have never seen before Thanks for watching!
  13. It was pretty epic to see both the Catalina and Vampire up close having used flown them in FSX so I thought I'd post a few more videos for thos of you who like these old birds. I love the sound that the Vampire makes, especially upon landing. It looks like a pretty awkward aircraft to handle. The FA-18 video is worth watching til the end. Some of the maneouvres it pulls are pretty impressive. Anyway, I hope you enjoy these clips I filmed a couple of weeks back at the Sion Airshow here in the Swiss Alps. Cheers, Steve
