  1. In another thread in the last week or so I reported on a test I ran on this very issue for KVNY. With my Orbx-only Community folder, I saw almost no performance change between the default and the Orbx scenery. I did see lagging during panning with photogrammetry enabled, and it also showed little difference between default and Orbx scenery. Los Angeles and San Francisco are very taxing areas. If you have any other add-ons particularly freeware, your MSFS performance can be compromised, and in a dense scenery area with high graphics settings, it will become evident, even if the sim runs fine in other areas. To check the Orbx version's performance, you'll need to only have KVNY and KSJC in your Community folder (many posts about how to do this), and set your graphics settings to a realistic level for dense urban areas. Check the performance with photogrammetry on and off, Orbx and default airports set. I saw no more than 2 fps difference between the default KVNY and the Orbx version, and I recall a similar experience when I tested KSJC.
  2. I think what you're asking is what I do all the time. I have created another folder next to the Community folder in the Packages folder and called it Hangar. To disable a scenery I simply move the link from Community into the Hangar. And when I want the scenery back I just move it back. I think the only thing you would need to keep an eye on is if you run the sync simulator function or verify files for the scenery, you'll end up with the link in each folder but the good thing is that doesn't matter. You can just delete the one you don't want.
  3. True but as the developer said in another thread, the MSFS mesh for the airport is the primary cause of the wrong slope and there's only so much a developer can do to change it without bringing in many other problems, so until something changes in MSFS it looks like we're stuck with it.
  4. Loading problems in MSFS are normally caused by add on scenery of one sort or another. To check, you should rename your Community folder to something else like CommunityTest or similar so that MSFS doesn't load any add0ns from that folder. Then create a new Community folder alongside the renamed folder and move your YSSY scenery into it. If YSSY loads, then you'll need to discover which addon is causing the problem. Last time I had this problem it was the distance and tree size mod file, but traffic programs, aircraft and other sceneries can also cause problems.
  5. I just did a series of small tests. Photogrammetry On then OFF. Orbx KVNY installed then uninstalled. My tests came up with almost identical performance figures with both KVNY installed and then uninstalled. There was a slight increase in lagging with the Orbx airport installed but you'd have to expect a little bit of load on the system with the modelled airport. The biggest difference is between Photogrammetry and normal scenery. With both the default airport and Orbx KVNY, the lagging is quite evident with PG on, and much less with PG off. If you are running any mods traffic programs etc they can make a big difference in MSFS as most are not optimised. Freeware airports canoften have unintended consequences in scenery ad they don't even have to be in range. In summary, with my Orbx only Community folder, flying the Optica, in both directions along the runway axis, in fine weather, I see a negligible difference between the default and the Orbx KVNY. The biggest difference is whether PG is on or off.
  6. Hi. Unfortunately the problem is almost exclusively in the internet between the Orbx servers and your computer. It can be anywhere. It seems in order to limit internet traffic a lot of internet gatekeepers, ISPs etc see the large Orbx files as P2P or Torrents, and throttle back the speed. Or it can also be corrupted cached files that cause the connection to move to a slower speed. Most ISP caches are cleared every 48 hours and reported problems are generally over after a day or two. Some users have success in resetting their modems, others have used VPNs to bypass the choking imposed on the network. In almost every case reported at these forums, the Orbx servers have been operating perfectly and the problem is completely outside Orbx's control. However I'm not Orbx admin so I'm just commenting from what I've read on these forums, it's always possible a staff member might have more information. Just another point, even if you are reformatting between sim versions, you should be maintaining an Orbx backup library, so that only updated files are downloaded. Orbx Central works perfectly in this regard and saves enormous amounts of time and data.

  8. I'll let Ed know he might have an explanation. @Ed Correia
  9. Interesting. I see it in mine. Can you see it if you go to the Orbxdirect.com web page?
  10. So are you a bit confused about what monitor resolution you need for best display your Orbx scenery. The following diagram might help. Then again it might not!
  11. I think, with the previous fix having lasted only one update, that the devs are probably waiting for some concrete advice from Asobo or in the SDK about a permanent way to fix the problem.
  12. Yes that's the most common problem especially when using FSUIPC and forgetting to delete the default binding!
  13. I've set my numeric keypad to the move pilot view, I use 4 left, 6 right, 8 fwd, 5 up, etc, so when a view isn't right or I want to move seats, it's almost instantly available. Might be worth it while you wait to find the solution.
  14. No, it'll have covid restrictions, you'll have to wait 72 hours after you start the sim before you can go flying over the scenery.
  15. I just ran a test with AUV2, YMML and YMEN active in P3DV4. The freeware B737 advanced cockpit model. No traffic or other addons except for Chaseplane. One RH and one LH circuit from Runway 16. Not even a microstutter the whole two circuits. This indicates that whatever is causing your pauses is probably not related to the Orbx scenery but could well be caused by anything from a traffic, nav program, OZx scenery, weather add-on, complex airliner model, etc. It may be the interaction between one of those things and the Orbx scenery but the scenery itself seems to be as it should.
  16. In my experience it's add-ons that create problems like these. Can be totally unrelated to the scenery on question, but MSFS acts in strange ways. The only real way to test this is by only having the scenery in the community folder and seeing if the same problem exists
  17. Almost certainly related to another scenery or similar that overloads the RAM/CPU. Once overloaded I think it acts like a freeway with a bottleneck. Do you have other sceneries such as Moorabbin, Essendon, Melbourne City or landmarks, Avalon etc. If any of them are calling for scenery objects or textures at the same time as YMML is already demanding resources, it can result in a long pause while the computer tries to pump everything through. That's what I think anyway, not speaking as a developer!
  18. Not for me. Maybe uninstall and reinstall the aircraft? You can also set the view position in the cameras.cfg file, it'll have longitudinal, left and right and up and down numbers with reference to the centre of gravity, which should not have changed, all I can think of is that you might have set a new camera position by mistake? Here is the entry in my copy of the Tutor [VERSION] major =1 minor =0 [VIEWS] eyepoint = -4, 0.9, 1.3 ; (feet) longitudinal, lateral, vertical distance from reference datum
  19. Haven't had any performance issues with the Sydney Cityscape however you do need to ensure your graphics settings are suitable for dense city scenery. I usually run the first slider at 80% and knock back from Ultra to High for most settings when moving from bush flights into the cities.
  20. Ed might have a different answer but as I understand Central, it will remain there for the people who purchased it before it was discontinued, so they can download, update etc as required.
  21. This is what Asobo/Microsoft introduced with the switch to XBox compatibility. As I understand it, as fixes become available they will be adressed in scenery updates etc but for the moment, I believe it's something in MSFS not the Orbx sceneries which worked fine in MSFS at the date of release.
  22. All the Orbx buildings will be there without photogrammetry. Which is all the important ones in the harbour area, and CBD. Some of the other areas like the outlying town centres will look a bit default but it will still be miles ahead of the overall default scenery.
  23. I don't know about the nuts and bolts of the PayPal situation but there is a bit of history with them. Years ago PayPal blocked Orbx from accessing customer payments, it seems that someone in PayPal decided Orbx was possibly a dodgy business (!) and put a block on their accounts. Took weeks or months to resolve. So who knows why the Paypal button is misbehaving? My money is on it being a problem originating in PayPal and outside the control of Orbx. But like I said, I have no actual knowledge of the situation.
  24. The easiest way to get around the permissions problem is to create a new folder alongside the Community folder, called anything you like, I have mine as Hangar Temp, and you can move contents back and forth from the Community folder without any of the permissions issues that you face trying to move out of the MSFS folder.
  25. From what I remember in testing we were told that a section of Portugal would show imagery that extends to the edge of the XPlane enforced scenery tiles, but would only have default autogen. That's why the imagery doesn't end at the border as it would in P3D say.
