  1. I just flew a test to the north of PAKT and I see slow loading and popping textures. I don't think textures would be affected by the mesh though. Same thing on a flight out of PAJN. What I seem to be seeing are two different sets of textures, with the lower LOD textures (distant view textures) different to the higher LOD textures that pop in as soon as their draw call distance is reached. I suspect strongly that this is an Asobo/Bing issue. If the higher res textures are taken from a different set of Bing imagery to the lower res, as perhaps happens in an update, then I would expect to see what we're seeing. I just rant he same flight with the mesh disabled and it's the same, so It appears to be an Asobo issue.
  2. Just my 2c worth: Orbx started as a collective of developers who were hobbyists and were offered a way to basically get pocket money for their efforts. The model was unsustainable for a business, which Orbx has become. In addition, MSFS seems to have constraints on what can be put in to a scenery and what doesn't work. Put all that together and it may appear that standards have been allowed to drop, but I think it's more of a case of reality catching up with dreams as the flight sim marketplace matures into a fully sustainable model.
  3. Had such a blast flying this first time I jumped in it I thought I'd jump back in and make a video to add to John Heaton's review posted yesterday
  4. Just to add a note: the aircraft appears as a Grob 115 in the MSFS aircraft list, took me little while to work that out!
  5. Bung a world map up on the wall near your sim station and keep a dart handy. When you enter the area, grab a dart and throw it at the map. Choose the airport nearest where the dart lands. (assuming you can even hit the map). https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=16TLldaoxxmFv7wOWfYyM8zV-bgM&ll=-3.81666561775622e-14%2C-123.3489990234375&z=1
  6. And yes you do have this option, simply select the default runway start when setting up your flight.
  7. I think it will start the engine but not all necessary functions are tied to the command. For instance I just tried a CTRL E start and the fuel cocks weren't working properly until I pushed and pulled them, and the GPS didn't come on until I repeated the engine start in mid air. I think the aircraft has been designed to be operated in a reasonably realistic fashion if you start from a parking spot. A default runway start has everything working . Best advice? If selecting a parking spot be prepared to use the checklist to start and fly.
  8. Orbx Central will not lose any download data if interrupted or stopped mid download. So at any time you can stop the download and start it again. Sometimes a reboot of Orbx Central or a modem will return things to normal, however mostly it is the fault of ISPs and the internet gateways that create the download problems. Search download problems at these forums for many examples.
  9. Just checked mine and it's about 1-2% and it's downloading updates. Something's not right. No reason to have it running unless you're actually downloading etc, so maybe just click it off?
  10. If you haven't yet tried any of these it's worthwhile to give it a shot: Uninstall MSFS completely using the Apps window from your search bar. Confirm that the Flight Simulator folder(s) have been completely removed from your system. Log out of Microsoft Store. Log out of XBox App. Then you'll need to reset the Microsoft Store using the command line: wsreset.exe Log in to Microsoft Store. If you have the XBox app log in there as well. From the Microsoft Store find your purchased products and install MSFS. If the dll problem still occurs it's almost certain you have a corrupt install of Windows 10. You might need to wipe your OS and start again. Once reinstalled you'll also need to confirm that the W10 version is updated to what is required for MSFS. There has to be a solution for this, it's a matter of sleuthing until it's found.
  11. Google free Windows 10. That's how I got mine. The upgrade might not work if you already have W10 installed but can't hurt to try. Probably better forums than a flight sim forum for this sort of query.
  12. I flew the Jabiru last night and the trim control on my CH Yoke seems to be working fine. (?)
  13. Little Navmap would have a database it draws on. It's not an Orbx program so best to ask at whatever support forum they have.
  14. If you have Orbx Backup enabled then the P3DV5 downloads will first look for the P3DV4 files, and in most cases there will be very little extra to download for the V5 install.
  15. After the update I had MSFS working perfectly. Then I fiddled with a single file (tree size modification). After that it would not load. There was no error code or any other diagnosis available. To cut a long story short, I realised that I would need to uninstall and reinstall. Not an easy decision and cost me a full day but since then MSFS has performed faultlessly. It may be the best option if there is no alternative. BTW my EGLC and London Landmarks takes a long time for the blue bar to move across (>5 minutes at a guess), my MSFS is on an SSD, the sceneries are on an 8TB HDD. If you have HDD all the way it may take forever to load.
  16. Until Asobo fixes the problem, there's an opportunity to experience Groundhog Day in Newcastle upon Tyne, over St James Park. :-)
  17. The blue bar freezing can be related to a conflict with an add on, particularly any tree size or scenery distance files installed. Lots of topics about how to check. Search community folder and you should get the info you need
  18. In testing it was mentioned and the reason was something to do with related conflicts in MSFS, not covered in the sdk at the time. I think there is an intention to revisit the slope as more knowledge about MSFS becomes available. Anyway if you are practising circuits the default all you need!
  19. You can now create a new Community folder. Initially just move all your Orbx sceneries from Community XX to this new Community folder. Leave any other add-ons especially freeware in that XX folder. Now in MSFS you should see your Orbx sceneries, if not then you can run the sync scenery option on Orbx Central. Your MSFS flights should now load. If so, then another add on is likely to be the culprit, especially tree size and distance mods that used to work.
  20. I think Nick has already answered the question above. Orbx devs don't ignore problems in scenery projects, but until they have all the necessary information and a solution, they don't release a fix, which makes sense if you think about it.
  21. That's exactly what these ISP and server farms do, they decide a file is probably P2P or a torrent and put a throttle on it. Usually servers are reset at least every 48 hours so it should return to normal
  22. Almost guaranteed to be your ISP or some server up the line throttling the downloads because something has triggered the download as a torrent or P2P. Orbx has no control over such things downstream from its servers. If a number of users experience the same problem Orbx of course will check. BTW there's a link somewhere to check the status of the Orbx servers, I think I accessed it from the download page but not sure.
  23. Flew last night without photogrammetry no problems. If it's crashing for you without pg then chances are a 3rd party scenery or add on is the cause. If it's only with pg on, I'd say you'll need to fly without pg until the problem can be solved.
  24. Renaming the folder is only a step to hide it, so another folder can then be named Community, and accessible to MSFS. Useful for hiding all scenery add-ons, so that add-ons can be individually moved into the new community folder for checking. Nick's multiple folder system is a different kettle of fish.
