  1. A fit young healthy person with a well exercised pair of lungs can spend several hours at 20,000', and up to half an hour at 25,000', as long as conscious deep breathing is maintained. I climbed close to 20,000' for two days at 19 years of age, and even had a cigarette before bed! The FAA regulations are for the most vulnerable in the normal range of the population, but many many people are able to perform at far higher altitudes than the regulations would suggest.
  2. True, different treatment of the scenery files is my guess.
  3. I believe this is normal for the scenery, one of the quirks of XPlane, I remember seeing this in testing and it was explained then but it's so long ago I don't remember any details sorry.
  4. As far as I know there's no conflicts between Fly Tampa YSSY and the Sydney scenery, mind you I think all we Orbx testers would be using the version downloaded from Orbx Central so it may be there is something happening. However, in my experience the most common cause of P3DV4 crashes has been FS9 models somewhere that interfere with the scenery. And random crashes when previously no crashes occurred are also a sign of a traffic plane model being generated in a flight plan somewhere that might not be scheduled every time you fly. Do you have any traffic or shipping add-ons at all?
  5. You can also try any figure up to 64000 apparently, I remember when I was testing in the Los Angeles basin I settled on 16000 but I didn't run any tests to see if a figure as low as 2000 was also suitable. Try Nick's 2000, if you still see the black loading textures in the circuit try doubling it in steps until you either run out of VRAM or you're happy with the texture loading. Personally I don't have a problem with a bit of texture loading in dense scenery as I look around, it's part of the compromises of the old FSX engine. It's when entire airports take 2-3 seconds or longer to load that look for solutions!
  6. Mostly it won't matter, but if you're flying entirely within the TE area just untick the region so it can't load anything.
  7. And if the textures load again after a pause, there is a fix that works for some, it's something in the P3D.cfg file that sets the distance at which textures are dumped from memory. I don't have the link to hand but I'm sure a Google search can reveal it, it may have been here but probably the Avsim forums were where I read it.
  8. Are you running any other add-ons, particularly traffic or airport scenery. P3D will crash if there are any older models (from pre FSX I seem to remember) and some sceneries and traffic programs still have them, especially freeware. That'd be the first place I'd look, starting by unticking all add on sceneries in your scenery or add-ons library locations and see if it still crashes.
  9. No problem. If you install scenery for the sim that's running you might get problems though.
  10. I had another look last night, still working. I had to completely reinstall MSFS a couple of weeks ago so I'm wondering if somehow the new install allows the transponder to work. Anyway it appears that the aircraft files are working as developed and the problem might be something Asobo needs to fix?
  11. He explained that introducing the mesh would have created a whole lot of other problems due to the vagaries of MSFS traffic, parking, taxiways etc. But anyway I'm not him so I don't really need to explain anything
  12. Maybe check your install and ini file, I tested that part of Spain and I definitely saw the city in detail, even commented on a couple of areas of blurry terrain where there must be military installations
  13. I flew the Optica again a couple of days ago and the transponder was working. Can you confirm?
  14. It's just the way the sim is unfortunately. Regions and seasons are just averages and many areas display the wrong weather at a particular date. The way around it is to change the date forward or backwards until the correct weather is displayed.
  15. At the moment the devs are probably up to their necks in moving over to the new support system, so it's possible queued items will be on the back burner. Rest assured Orbx won't forget you.
  16. I read today that UK2000 are not going to develop scenery for the P3D sims in favour of MSFS, simply because the work required to develop the P3D scenery is not delivering a return, as (I think) it said up to 80% of business is now MSFS. I can well imagine that the Orbx devs, looking at the resources in the office, and prioritising projects that will offer the best return for the investment (as is the strange ways of commerce) and keep the Open LC Asia in the list but move other projects up over it. I'm sure, as promised, development will continue but only when resources allow.
  17. As I have stated on many threads, the problem lies with internet providers and routers outside Orbx's control. The throttling occurs I think because many ISPs see the Orbx traffic as P2P or Torrents. Usually the problem resolves itself when your ISP or their ISP's caches are cleared. I think it can also result from ISP router problems when a file slows the download speed and the rest of the download is kept at the slow speed. Your ISP can only see a certain way back down the line, if the problem is at an internet gateway it will look like the problem is at the Orbx servers. But over the last couple of years since Orbx Central was introduced I can only recall one or two episodes where the Orbx servers were discovered to be the cause of the slow downloads. Every single other instance has been problems between the servers and people's ISPs. Resetting modems can help if a modem cache is the problem, but it may be a matter of waiting for the caches to clear in the line. I just selected an airport in the Orbx catalogue I've never downloaded and it's coming down the pipe at 6.35 MB/s.
  18. I'm sure Nick will find a way to sort things out. Just might take a bit of time.
  19. Still there a few messages back isn't it?
  20. Did you uninstall and reinstall? Occasionally the installers can miss something on an update, so the full procedure will ensure all files are up to date. I have no popping within normal viewing distances, but I haven't fixated on distant objects which can be a trap. The other point is that many scenery and airport objects will pop into view at quite close distances, this is an MSFS 'feature' to do with XBox compatibility and the devs have no control over it.
  21. I've seen something on the MSFS version Early days yet though. Also a glimmer of light about the P3DV5 version, but even less advanced. So the good news is the devs are on it, but there's no time line at this stage.
  22. Are you using the 2 factor app from itunes or the Play Store? That's what I have to use. Can't remember how you access the Orbx code generator but there must be documentation somewhere probably inside Central Help or Settings?
  23. Not near the computer until later but I'll check for you.
  24. Can't say for sure but I think you will see something soon.
