  1. I don't remember seeing those when I looked at the Sydney Seaplane scenery. But there's an easy way to check it. Turn off photogrammetry in the sim. If they are still there maybe you have another add on that's causing it.
  2. Asobo photogrammetry from the look of it. It comes with the territory, nothing you can do except turn off the photogrammetry. Which many people prefer anyway.
  3. No harm in trying it out, can't do any harm, if it looks messy then revert to whatever you had before. I'm assuming that you own the XP11 version?
  4. In your Orbx Central you should see this entry. Then you should see a similar entry to this If that is what you're seeing then it is installed and will be in your Community folder as Orbx-airport-pngbushstrips-packs2 either as a folder or a shortcut to your library. If you definitely don't see all the scenery elements such as houses, trees, animals people you will need to take a screenshot and upload it so we can assess what you are seeing. Note; there's not much difference in the runway textures between the default and this scenery, so don't expect gravel or surfaced runways etc!
  5. I also just went in to trim my SSDs and found that the only way I could get the full menu to allow defragging/Optimisation was via the Computer Management - Disk Management function in Control Panel, the normal Device Manager pop up in Windows 11 didn't seem to have the function. i've set mine to TRIM monthly.
  6. I just checked Google and it seems advice has changed since the early days of SSDs. The advice now is to TRIM regularly, Kingston says once a week, you can can set up a regular Optimise Drive in Windows.
  7. There is the Iris Jabiru for MSFS, 160 and 170, you could change the aircraft engine cfg file to up the engine power to get a model pretty close to the real thing...
  8. generally the advice is don't bother to touch the SSDs they get no benefit from trimming
  9. I just did several flights in and around the Melbourne basin in VR and for me it's well and truly as smooth as I would expect. I don't believe there are any further tweaks to performance for the area, the team have put a lot of work into optimising what they have. The YMML area is quite heavy on even the best machines and maximum graphics are never going to cut it. An LOD slider set higher than 200 and Ultra settings will be too much, and the more complex the aircraft, such as a PMDG, the more you have to compensate. Performance is on a par with London and New York, and is better than Paris, so I think it's about where you'd expect it to be.
  10. I never saw this in testing nor did anyone else. Chances are it's something Asobo has introduced since the airport was developed that has changed the behaviour of textures.
  11. Pretty sure you will need to reinstall the main sim files but content and scenery etc should be ok to copy across. Unless you get a better suggestion here's what I would do: Create a mirror image of your P3D folder in the SSD. Make a copy of the Lockheed Martin folders in your appdata and programdata folders so your settings are available if they don't save. Uninstall the sim. Go to the LM site and download the core sim files only to install (can't remember what they are called) and install to the SSD. Hopefully this creates all the registry entries but leaves the appdata etc intact. The other LM components should be available to the sim, and if you have lost your controls and other settings than overwrite the appdata and program data folders with your saved ones. Your Orbx Central will need to be resync'ed but that's an easy process. Once all is good, delete the entire LM folder from the old drive.
  12. True! An easy way to test RAM properly is to download Memtest64 and follow the instructions to make a boot file that starts when you reboot your pc before Windows starts. It will then perform a series of RAM checking tests that can take up to a few hours, however there is a screen that runs and it soon becomes obvious as it reports the number of faults found. Much more rigorous and accurate than the built in Windows RAM checking software. I discovered that my random shut downs were because my RAM was failing at 3600MHz but OK at 3200MHz. It can be that simple. Other possibilities are Power Supply and CPU getting too hot if it's not seated properly.
  13. I've heard that the Victorian government introduced legislation that requires all software developers to submit changes to opening screens to a citizens panel for approval. As yet no one on the panel has approved changes that would result in the removal of YMML from the splash screen, until they do it looks like we're stuck with it. 🙄
  14. I guess anyone can draw sketches and distribute them to the public, making it look like a developed proposal. But I can't see development costs being much less than the A380, which is reckoned to have cost $25 billion. So how in any known universe they could recover development costs with a fairly restricted market is beyond my comprehension.
  15. Easiest chopper to fly by far, but has a lot of momentum going into a turn so it skids wide, once you understand that and plan ahead, no dramas.
  16. Any Orbx sale would be an autumn sale wouldn't it? 😄
  17. You can also run a 4k monitor at intermediate settings like 1440p and I think there's one more before 4K
  18. I can't speak for the developers and whether they have any plans, but generally flightsim scenery is not updated for changes such as you mention. You didn't say which sim you are referring to. If it's MSFS, there are areas around the world that are 10 years out of date. Even specific add-ons like Southern England will only be concerned with major landmarks and gross inaccuracies in the scenery, and once developed, become point in time representations until there are enough major changes across the country to make an update worth consideration.
  19. Not sure that is correct. When I had P3DV5 installed, with the same graphics capabilities as V4. 5, its performance was better and was equally stable. Maybe it would be better to spend some time getting to know what V5 can actually do, you might be surprised.
  20. I installed the new AutoFPS that has been getting rave reviews and fired it up along with MSFS. Took a flight in VR and my LOD seemed quite low, even though the sim was really smooth, I thought I could do with a bit more LOD and less FPS. But, with Windows Mixed Reality, in VR the mouse is trapped in the VR window, while the AutoFPS screen sits on the desktop. No way that I know of to get it to display in the VR headset, and anyway can't really use the keyboard with the headset on. So I got to wondering if there's a config file and sure enough... in AppData\Roaming\MSFS2020_AutoFPS there's a file called MSFS2020_AutoFPS.config that is editable in Notepad. Changing the value of the line: <add key="targetFpsVR" value="40" /> to a different value (I chose 25) results in the new figure being the value after a restart of the app. I guess there would be other values that might need to follow this approach for VR flight, though I did note that the other values I had changed in the PC mode were changed for VR as well, so it's a case of trial and error at the moment.
  21. My 3060ti gives me more than enough fps at 4k, in dense cities such as London and NY, reducing the scenery detail slider to 200 can be necessary depending on the weather. In fact, fps basically doesn't change when I go back to 1080p, proving that performance limitations are mostly cpu related. It might be different if you insist on running 100% Ultra settings across the board, but I find I can't see any difference between mostly High and all Ultra settings anyway.
  22. Years ago I bought a 40" monitor, I'll never go back to smaller
  23. Tried it on the monitor... yep straightaway they appeared
  24. Maybe it has to be on a monitor because I see diddly squat on the phone
