Some great news (for me).

Recommended Posts

Really great news, Don.  I can empathize.  More than twenty years ago my wife dragged me to the E.R. in respiratory arrest, on the brink.  In a coma for four days and intubated.  But with the right care by a great pulmonologist I came through it fine, and at this point only use an inhaler rarely.  Turned out that the cause was a reaction to Atrovent  inhaler which my PCP had prescribed. I discovered this when in recovery the pulmonologist suggested I try it again.  One puff was enough!  It made me much worse.  I now list it as an allergy.

I mention this to support and emphasize Don's point, getting the right help and treatment can make all the difference.  To that I'll add, while we have wonderful life saving medications not all are suitable for everyone.  Be alert to what a medicine is doing and if it does not work as it's supposed to tell your physician immediately.

Anyway, Don, this is great. Best wishes for a continued recovery.

Thanks Ken. Although I've been pretty sick off and on over the past couple of years and hoping the doc would find something for a cure. It came about by accident, a friend       called to see me and I was having a pretty bad time, you need to see this guy and gave me the name of a specialist. This involved all sorts of stuff, change of meds, ultrasounds, CT scans, Xrays and over and over, but that's behind me now, pretty much, as long as I stick to what I have to do, I'm a gonna be fine:D. I'm afraid the inhaler is forever, damage done, but that's okay, it's a small price to pay to have a future and be able to give you guys a hard time.:)

Thanks for telling me your story, and I glad you got through your bad period.

Thanks Landon. Looking at all the time you put in for me buying a new rig, I knew I couldn't let you down, just had to get good results from the doc. Over the last six months the doctor was telling me it's looking good, but don't get your hopes up. Yesterday I was actually having a lot of negative thoughts as I waited to see him, but when he called me in he was all smiles - you're good, not brand new, but good:D. Have to admit I teared up a bit, big relief. The thing is, you don't know what life has in store for you, so you need to make the most of everyday.

What great news. Don! Takes a big load off for you and family--and brings a cup of joy to your Forum Friends. Happy, happy, happy!

Hey Rodger, thank you very much. Yes, everyone is very happy thanks. You know taking the load off - you don't realise the effect that has until it's gone. Thanks again for your best wishes.

@Aussieflyer38 Don, there is a lot you don't know about me, but some folks on here do know privately. That said, I don't take any day for granted in life. I love each and every day I get, and if I ever have the option to tell you more of my story, you will understand. Again, SO happy to hear you will be around so much longer Don :)

Cheers!

Thanks Landon, I just hope you are as well as can be expected. Every day you have is a bonus and I cherish each one, I'm good today, but who knows what's around the corner. I was hesitant to tell my story, but if something happened to me, I didn't want you guys thinking I just quit and no goodbye's. So you look after yourself mate and keep positive, which is one thing I have always been. Napolean Hill taught me a lot about positive thinking, I have read his books a lot, and the right frame of mind can get you through a lot. Stay well:)

Thanks Gumby, and yep never get to like your doctor too much, it messes with your thinking. Nice guy and I thought he knew pretty much everything. My fault, when I wasn't progressing I should have looked elsewhere. My mate saw it before I did, he was the kickstarter, gave me the name of the specialist, who laid it on the line - you're pretty sick, so this will take some time - be patient, and so I became a patient patient.:D

Thanks

great news Don, really pleased to hear you are getting on the right road to recovery, or at least to being a lot better and with the correct medical help you are able to manage any issues....we do take good health for granted, I know that for sure, after an issue back in 2020 when I suffered a cardiac arrest I really appreciate that I am very lucky and can't thank those 2 paramedics enough....so you get the all clear and a new PC, things are definitely on the up for you.....take care and appreciate your close friends and family being around....
