flyingleaf
After spending a few days in Vegas. T-Bone at the free buffets (the staff asked him to leave and how can a skinny old fart like you eat so much?) and swilling beers. Bobbie-Jo getting her hair done for the homecoming.(She rally looks like the Yellow Rose of Texas) And Billy Bob losing a lotta money (him) even though I told him casinos don't make money on "winners". We're off en route just outside of Amarillo namely Hutchinson, Texas. (Beautiful freeware orbx airport (thank you guys). Of course I'm all alone again in the cockpit. T-Bone is on the head. I went to the gas station outside the airport and bought AAA road maps. The guy told me they don't print'em anymore since they invented the internetbut he did have some that are only five years old and don't have too many stains on'em.Enuff said let's go and get us a 72 oz steak Quite a cityBye VegasWow here is a engineering marvel the Hoover DamOn the edge of SOCAL and entering Arizona.Time to switch off the real weather. Hey, T-Bone are you ok or what? Yeah, yeah I's coming.Still great shots with Global and NA LCIf I read my road map correctly this should be Humphrey Peak near Flagstaff.Sunset CraterOne more shotSt. Johns Industrial, New Mexico ain't much to see and looks pretty dried out.New Mexico that's quite nice. Bobbie Jo comes in and tells us every time ah hear the name Amarillo I think of my little Burt. I asked who is Burt, Bobbie-Jo? She says: Why Karl, Burt is my pet Armadillo. I says: What is an Armadillo? She: Why he is a cuddly we critter. She shows me a picture of Burt and I shudder. I said: Oh boy he looks as cuddly as an Alligator. She say yeah c-ept he don't bite as hard when yer snuggle him Roswell, New Mexico. T-Bone wanted to stop. I said no those people would think you're an AlienHello Texas. Wow looks nice and green.Clovis, Texas. Farewell spraying service is the small landing strip.Well guys here we are as promised in Hutchinson, Texas. It's been a very interesting trip to say the leastNow you'll keep your promise to my old flying girl I hope. Hey T-Bone how does it feel to be back in Texas? Real good Cap'n. Mebby I'stay. What?Oh now, T-Bone. Why?Oh my goodness guys.Yeah I mean you guys looking at my pictures. beardgoblin
Nice travelogue, and great pics! When I'm not fling through the fjords and snow of SAK/PFJ I tend to buzz around Arizona - looks like I'll have to extend my range a bit, take in some of those sights for myself. That T-Bone is doin' me a concern, mind!

Rodger Pettichord
Karl, it's another classic set. The route sequence was fascinating--so much to see. And the narrative was fun--so much to laugh with. And I keep taking the Mule Team seriously as a superb gang of professionals from the Old School. This is great stuff. Thanks! Captain Lars
Karl, you showed us pretty much all that there is to see on the route between Vegas and Texas. Super routing and excellent storyline! Now the question is how they come home back to Alaska, through the mountains or along the coast...
Stillwater
Great low&slow shots, Karl - and another fascinating story you tell. I´d love to follow the Mule team even on their boring way back home to where the climate is fresh. PS: What is this crazy invention they call "internet"? Your road maps were already ok. And if not you could still ask Tony:
