FTX NA SCA Southern California - Around Los Angeles and Las Vegas - P3Dv3

Recommended Posts

Here are my first shots from SoCal all shot in glorious P3Dv3.

With the photo real shores of Los Angeles and the Urban sprawl of Las Vegas, I don't think these two have ever looked as good as this in any sim... and without any cost in fps!

I got graphics and shadow sliders and max and my medium spec system handled it beautifully. Expect more shots to come, but meanwhile, please enjoy this first installment

I don't even want to ask what kind of FPS you will get in the LA area with everything maxed, must be worse than the Bay Area and Seattle... but sure looks great! As I said in the other preview topic though, the desert is not red enough. Is this something you can look at?

The lack of color saturation in the Hoover Dam screenshots appears to be specific to user settings in P3Dv3. If you look at the same area in FSX there's plenty of color and saturation. I'm no expert in adjusting P3D settings but assume there are options for achieving similar color depths as in FSX. Then again, I've noticed a thread in the L-M scenery development support forum documenting that both HDR and tessellation settings in P3Dv3 negatively impact colors of ground textures, in particular photoreal areas. L-M stated they are looking into this.

Cheers, Holger

What kind of ORBX magic are we getting along the Vegas strip, new building models or defaults?

I'm curious about that too.  It would NOT be a show-stopper for me in purchasing SCA if the Strip wasn't "up-to-date" (all Las Vegas sceneries today are out of date concerning the Strip buildings due to renovations over the past few years), but could you show a picture of the Strip looking south from the Stratosphere towards KLAS (or north from KLAS towards the Stratosphere)?

It's looking great already and it's a definite purchase for me (living in Las Vegas) regardless.  Just curious like Bruce.

The new Hoover Dam bridge is spot on, BTW.  :D

Hi,

Does this scenery include Catalina Island....................I could see Orbx developing a detailed airport for KAVX?

There is a severe drop off at each end of the runway.

Yes, Catalina Island is indeed included... I will try get some shots from there later :)

The strip does indeed look much improved over the default. Though I am not sure whats current or not, I will get some more pictures from the strip

I was expecting bad fps, but wasn't actually the case here surprisingly. Maybe because I am using P3Dv3 and performance is better managed  that I am seeing smooth performance here.

Such amazing scenery.

Now I can go to Vegas without the danger of the missus invading the casinos:lol::lol:

So much happening here with all the pending new releases.

Exciting times.

Is ORBX considering an HD Cacti release along the lines of HD Trees?:blink::huh:.

Bill, there is actually a very good payware KAVX already available and it blends quite well with SCA.

Can we get some better shots of Las Vegas. I would like to see how much of the Las Vegas Strip is modeled (praying that we have almost a complete LV Strip :)

Thanks in advance.

I will try and grab some later... saving best for last ;)
