Hi David,

The lack of color saturation in the Hoover Dam screenshots appears to be specific to user settings in P3Dv3. If you look at the same area in FSX there's plenty of color and saturation. I'm no expert in adjusting P3D settings but assume there are options for achieving similar color depths as in FSX. Then again, I've noticed a thread in the L-M scenery development support forum documenting that both HDR and tessellation settings in P3Dv3 negatively impact colors of ground textures, in particular photoreal areas. L-M stated they are looking into this.

Cheers, Holger

Interesting. I miss the red desert textures of the southwest, did not know P3D had different display of colors. I fly FSX for now, can't wait to have red desert textures back in the sim! With Orbx Global the southwest desert is too brown and dull.

Aerosoft Catalina does not come with an afcad file but you can adjust the freeware Orbx afcad file to layer on top, you run into display issues with ground textures though. Would be nice to see what Orbx SCA does with Catalina island and airport.

Quite honestly, Beta or no...I thing this is the best output, to mimic reality, that I have ever seen from ORBX...and for sure, they have one sold sign, here...

There are shots in Vegas, around the casinos...that has me shaking my head back and forth, and the L.A. coast...and further south, the bluffs...reality is getting blurred.

Catalina, looks super!

Like I said...sold upon release....

Yes, I think the lack of saturation is only due to John's personal settings. Even the painting of the plane looks faded. In comparison, the colours in Emsie's shots look much more vibrant.

And you can tune the saturation setting easily within Prepar3D v3 through the "HDR Lighting" feature. You can reduce the bloom and brightness that lot of people don't love much :

Hi,

Could you please confirm that So CAL will available for FSX as well?

The screen shot comments are mentioning, that I can see, are for P3D.

The sample ones you have included are very impressive.

Thanks,

Stewart Thompson

We support FSX, FSX:SE, P3D 1-3, and will do so for quite some time.

Anyone seen a release date yet? I saw one post that it would be in December. Would be nice to test out the new scenery over the holiday break.

John quoted in a post yesterday or the day before that we will have it by Christmas :)

I use Pilotedge a lot. This is going to be a huge game changer. Really amazing stuff. I really hope this is well optimized. I run a 4790k with SLI 970's and Northern California with Full overcast weather (default weather textures) and the A36 is right at the edge of smooth running around SFO. LAX has potential to be even harder on the system.

I am very excited for this release.

Actually, I have both, the payware and the freeware from aerosoft, Unfortunatelly I always get floating objects when taking off from KAVX. but landing at KAVX, the airport Building blend into the ORBX SoCal scenery pretty well. (I did use the Global Vector Config Tool). Would you know how to solve the floating object problem at KAVX?

The floating objects happened when I set my starting point on the runway treshhold via World - Go To Airport. And most of the time, I start on the ramp ;-)

But if it happened like here :

... I simply slew up some meters from the ground and down and everything gets back to normal.

Hope this workaround will help you.

thank you vbazillio

the slew mode, as a workaround, helped to solve to problem. Catalina is a little odd, it doesnt have a ramp position to choose from, at least not on my P3D version. Only RWY's can be selected.
