  1. I just started a flight there no problems. Maybe it's the same problem as at EGLC, photogrammetry? If you have photogrammetry turned on try it without.
  2. Try it without photogrammetry. I just loaded up EGLC and Landmarks London with photogrammetry off and it's loaded ready to take off... Confirmed a flight over London to Elstree without photogrammetry no issues. @Nick Cooper
  3. I had to reinstall the sim... but that was a different issue. I just tested EGLC and London Landmarks together and it is crashing now so no need to do anything, the devs will have to track down the reason for the conflict, so for the time being it seems you will have to choose the airport or the city!
  4. These problems seem to be related to changes to files in the Official folder and/or 3rd party scenery packs. A veritable minefield for the potential sleuth. I had to reinstall after I changed some values in the trees file to reduce the tree sizes, once the changes had been made returning the file didn't help as it now had a different date time property. So... you might need to reinstall in order to get it working, if your experience is the same as mine.
  5. Just to check I just loaded up Cape Town and went for a fly all around, works perfectly. Must be a reason for your troubles unique to your setup, as no-one else has reported this issue. My Landmarks Cape Town City Pack in my MSFS Library is 5.09GB, 1374 files in 12 folders. Is that what you're seeing? The shortcut in the MSFS Packages Community folder is Landmarks Cape Town City Pack.
  6. Before the 1080ti I had a 1080 8GB and it performed well, maybe if you found one cheap, I think your CPU and RAM are good enough. Check benchmarks for your CPU vs mine, should be faster, though even with MSFS I think single core performance is the main thing to look at.
  7. And in MSFS you get the bonus of a dynamic atmosphere, as you fly over undulating or mountainous country when there's wind about it will rock you about just like the real world. I don't know what your specs are but my 6-7 yo CPU with the 1080ti card and high end settings gives me butter smooth performance.
  8. Sometimes deleting a couple of files seems to help, content.xml is one, and there's another that escapes me, but I think a search for your problem should throw up some options. That would be my next guess. It's 1am here I'll tag Nick Cooper he generally has a better memory than me :-) @Nick Cooper
  9. The entries in the Packages/Community folder are links to the actual scenery folders in the Community folder you have specified for your library. Is that what you mean?
  10. I agree entirely. However if you look at the original comments it could be argued that many of the comments were hardly positive criticism. Given our species' penchant for herd behaviour and jumping on bandwagons, i suspect the temporary closure of the thread was put in place as a circuit breaker. That said, all constructive criticism and reported issues are being compiled and worked on.
  11. If the throttle is moving by itself it indicates a conflict or an incorrect setting ion the Controls. If you use FSUIPC check that you don't have the throttle mapped in FSUIPC and MSFS. I have a button mapped to the Hold Reverse Thrust setting and if I hold it down in a few of the GA prop planes like the Optica the throttle does go back to zero. Confirm that the throttle lever on the console moves back to zero, or do you mean power just seems to be lost? If it's the latter, then you might be using incorrect takeoff technique. You need to lift off at 60-65kts but hold it close to the runway until you see 75 kts and then only climb gently at 500 fpm.
  12. Probably a freeware download interfering with this scenery. To check, rename your Community folder to something like Community-X. Create a new Community folder. Move the Cape Town scenery from the Community-X to the Community folder. (If you use a Library for MSFS addons it will be the shortcut that you move). If it fixes the problem you can move your payware sceneries back in, check it still works, and then track down the culprit by moving your freeware sceneries in in small batches, testing each time.
  13. If Paypal won't work why not just use a card? Legitimate refund claims are as safe as with Paypal...
  14. I use an 8TB normal HDD for my MSFS Community folder and it seems to run perfectly well. MSFS itself is on an SSD.
  15. If you search this topic you'll find many posts on slow downloads, most relate to a single user. In almost every case the problem has been determined to be somewhere between the Orbx servers and the user's machine, and outside Orbx's control. Often it's a caching issue, the ISP sees the data flow as a P2P or similar and throttles the data flow. Resetting a modem and/or ip address can sometimes help. If multiple users start reporting slow downloads the Orbx team will naturally investigate.
  16. Actually I don't believe this does contravene the Aussie law. The initial price shown is a generic global price and it is made obvious as soon as the purchase process is started that tax needs to be calculated. The process makes it clear that the actual price is not actually presented to the purchasers until they identify themselves. Once a purchaser has logged in and thereby identified that they are liable to Australian GST, the total price is displayed conforming to the legislation. You can't expect Orbx to display a GST inclusive price on the product page, and thereby to an overseas purchaser in a country where that GST is not payable.
  17. Going down the path of adhering to the ACCC law, which doesn't take into account changes in international markets since it was written, might result in much more cumbersome processes for Aussie customers logging on to the site. A quick perusal of prices advertised on the Web in Australia for Australian products marketed around the world, shows widespread use of the base price plus gst and people accept it because sellers really don't have any option without making Aussie visitors see a separate page. And, even then, someone using a VPN will see a price without tax, and then the question arises, has the retailer then broken the law?
  18. My take on this having tested it is that in the context of Brisbane where the Brisbane City pack requires some of the resources available to the computer, the scenery has been developed to allow mid range computers such as my old rig to give good frame rates. And it does this admirably. For normal aviation operations, approaches, departures, circuits (pretty rare in real life I imagine) and taxying to terminal gates it is an outstanding product, and that is the primary purpose of scenery products.
  19. You need to move all other sceneries and aircraft etc Sumburgh out of the community folder (just cut to another folder in the same location with a different name like Hangar or Holding) and leave only Sumburgh in the COmmunity folder. Then test. If it works, reintroduce your other sceneries in batches of five is a good idea. You should be able to move all the Orbx sceneries back in strightaway as Sumburgh works with all Orbx sceneries loaded. I can pretty well guarantee that it will be a conflict with another scenery, most likely a freeware. All it takes is for two sceneries to try to access identiaclly named files for problems to appear (so I believe). I loaded up Sumburgh and spent a good hour flying around just last night.
  20. I guess in a flightsim, where sacrifices need to be made to ensure performance is adequate, non aviation scenery will be the first to show any compromises.
  21. By the nicely modelled Pitts, I'd say MSFS.
  22. Just make sure you have saved the sceneries somewhere and you can always retrieve them for the new pc install. Probably a good idea to famioliarise yourself with the different file structures between the P3D Orbx folder and a library folder. More files and folders in the library.
  23. OK here's an old post that is still relevant, follow this carefully you should have no problems. The important thing is if you have a copy of the Orbx folder and a your scenery library if you have one, one way or another you won't need to download large volumes of data.
  24. The Optica in real life doesn't have any aileron trim as far as I know. So the aircraft would be manually configured for desired trim by the mechanic on the ground, which I imagine is trial and error. The pilot is left of c.o.g.so without any trim the plane will tend to bank left. Put a counterweight in the far seat and obviously the balance will be restored. I imagine that each aircraft would be tailored to its most useful configuration, if a passenger is often carried, no tweaking, if the pilot mostly flies alone he might request bias be introduced. Either way, flying a stick aircraft will generally make this tendency invisible as subconsciously the pilot will be compensating constantly throughout the flight.
  25. There's no official position on this. Some sceneries are designed to work better with Photogrammetry on , but it's never compulsory. I find it varies, all you can really do is start a flight and if the photogrammetry looks really bad, you can switch to off without having to reset the flight.
