  1. I imagine flying the Optica requires constant input, a lot of it subconscious same as steering a car. With hand on the stick you would be constantly correcting slightly for eddies in the air even on a calm day. It's not a model I would expect to be able to fly hands off
  2. Hi There are a few shortcuts of varying complexity but one simple data saver I have found useful is to have your sceneries saved somewhere, if they're in the P3DV4 folder simple copy the Orbx folder to another drive, it they're in a library on a different drive then they will be exactly where you want them. After setting up your new computer and installing P3DV4 you can simple move the Orbx folder back in to the P3DV4 folder, and when you use the Sync Simulator command in Orbx Central it should rebuild the scenery indexes etc. If there are any problems with the sync then as long as the Scenery and Texture folders are in the correct pathway then when you install the scenery from Orbx Central only the additional files will be downloaded and installed, usually a small download. Same goes for Library items, if the drive that has the library sceneries has the same letter as in your current setup, Orbx Central should have no problem in finding the sceneries when you sync the simulator. Once again, if there's a problem, having the large data in the Scenery and Texture folders ready to go means that any downloads should be small. If you're hesitant, just try one scenery as a test, get the files into the right location, and press install and you should see Orbx Central find the Scenery and Texture folders, and only need to download the smaller files to set up the scenery for P3DV4.
  3. Not far from Beziers, LFMU, is this rather unique arrangement of fields. You could almost think it was arranged to look at its best through the window of the Optica!
  4. Confirm that the flight model is set to Modern. The plane does not work with the Legacy model. If using FSUIPC ensure there are no controller conflicts.
  5. What a way to travel! Amazing plane over stunning scenery. No tricky edits or music, just a simulation of what a real flight would be like for the pilot.
  6. From what I can tell, resolution is sometimes at the whim of the MSFS engine. Example: the white lines on the runway centreline are always blurry even tough the surrounding textures are crisp. It may be something that is dependent on the level of complexity surrounding the aircraft at the instant.
  7. Because there's a script in the process that is badly written is my guess. Whether it's in the software that Orbx staff can fix or whether they have to rely on Paypal to fix it is anyone's guess.
  8. Looks to me like the PAPI lights are 3 degrees but the ILS has a steeper angle. Easy fix I think.
  9. Just flew all around the harbour and dawdled around the bridge and Luna Park and performance on my machine is first class. No frame rate drop, smooth as silk. I don't use scenery cache anymore, and recently I deleted all the suggested files such as Content.xml to refresh the sim.
  10. I always wonder if there's a browser problem or a Paypal script. Searching the net shows many problems with windows closing unexpectedly and there are all sorts of solutions offered including finding java scripts and modifying them. I use Opera and occasionally when I have issues with a website not displaying correctly, particularly pop up windows, I try the same pages with other browsers, including Firefox and Microsoft Edge, and usually I find a different browser is the key. I'm sure the Orbx staff would suggest a solution if they had the answers but as paypal has shown in the past they're not always forthcoming with reasons for problems with their transactions.
  11. There's a post back a week or two mentioning this and a solution provided...
  12. Don't think I saw this when I tested the update, but I'll have to revisit it. In the meantime I suggest you clear any scenery cache, and also files like content.xml etc. Pretty sure a quick search here will supply the names of relevant files and folders.
  13. Yes, following the discovery of another unrelated windsock bug that actually prevented the windsock from displaying (hence the lack of reports in the testing phase) we can confirm this bug is there but is erratic, only sern sometimes and not all testers are seeing it. Apparently it's only occurring with Photogrammetry on, so can you try with that off and see if it is fixed. (the scenery is designed to work with Photogrammetry so it won't be a long term suggestion!) From what we're seeing this might be something Asobo has to address, as you can understand deeper program bugs like this are beyond the capacity of the developer to fix.
  14. One thing to try if you haven't already... If you use the Orbx backup for install files, it may need to be deleted so all files are downloaded again. Shouldn't matter but it might be worth a try.
  15. I believe it is up to date Bing imagery i.e. the Bing Imagery is current. Doesn't mean they flew over every corner of the world in the last year. It makes perfect sense to me that many areas of the world would be years out of date, the landforms haven't changed after all. Just be happy you don't live in southern Germany where large areas feature landclass where clouds did obscure the ground.
  16. Well it didn't appear in the beta testing that I ever saw so we can assume that the cause is something that is easy to identify or fix. If it had appeared it wouldn't have got the green light for release. I don't see any reference anywhere to this being a known bug before release.
  17. Most of us don't really care that a lot of the imagery is a few years old, we're appreciative of the opportunities afforded by MSFS and we realise that outside a few small areas, 99.9% of the continent, and the world, is a revelation and it doesn't matter a fig if it's not up to date.
  18. I was going to write what Wolfko wrote but thought I would take a back seat. But in many ways the omission of the auto tuned frequencies is realistic. If you are relying on ILS to get you down to the runway it is mandatory to have all your frequencies available on a notepad or similar, so as part of setting up your flight you need to have noted them down for easy access. Then, when the frequency doesn't appear, you quickly dial it in and get down to the job of landing safely.
  19. Yes I've made a comment however in case nothing comes of it, I have copied the [FLTSIM] section encompassing all the liveries into a text file, saved to the same folder. If an update changes the relevant text it will be less than a minute to restore the changes.
  20. First we've heard of it... sure it was a genuine Microsoft alert?
  21. Totally uninstalled. The click click is probably the ignition key up the top of the pillar, mine was animating as though it was an normal starter key going into the start and out again.
  22. It's always done that I think. The lady is one who you wouldn't get on the wrong side of! She'd pick you up with one hand and toss you out the window.
