Hey, John. Sorry to hear about the weight. May I say that the new glaucoma treatments are very effective and simple? Makes a huge difference in quality of life.

Of course every case is different, but through what my wife has been through over the last couple of years, I agree with Rodge.  She has an inflammation of the retina, treated with cortasoids (implants) which cause glaucoma.  Consequently she has a stent, as well as drops.  She is being treated by both a retina and a glaucoma specialist.  I don't know what specialized opthamolgists are available in your area, but if you can't get the best results from one, see if there is another.  Best of luck, and don't give up.

If I could add to the eyeball discussion--cataract surgery is safe, simple, and gives great results. Macular degeneration can be caught and at least held steady by eye-injections (yes, they hurt a bit). Glaucoma can be held steady by drops and a specialized vitamin supplement. I have experience with all of these and can attest there's hope if you get to the specialists soon and do as they say. And that's my two cents.

I am not a candidate for Cataract surgery because of the RK surgery I had done in the 80's . I do take Xalatan for my glaucoma and pour in my eyes refresh tears

every hour that I am awake .

Good to hear from you John, not good to hear of your battles. If this forum brings even the slightest relief we’re happy to see your contributions mate. Take care.

I can only give my sympathy John, I know what

eye problems are all about. When I was 12 I got

type 1 diabetes, at the age of around 25-26 I lost my sight.

Had to leave work and go to Melbourne, for two major surgeries

over a period of a few months to clear up the bleeding behind my eyes

because of haemorrhaging from bursting blood vessels. A few yrs later

had both cateracts removed no big deal with that. Today I can see enough to get by.

This is not about me, just to let you know that Doc's can do a lot, so don't give up.

It's not always as bad as one thinks.:)

All the best.

cheers

Hang in there John, and may you stay strong and positive during this difficult period. You have obviously endured much, so I believe you can fight through this as well.

Best regards,

Landon
