Popular Post Orbx
A city that needs no introduction - welcome to Sydney for Prepar3D v4+! From acclaimed developer of Cityscape Sydney for Microsoft Flight Simulator, Frank Schnibben, this striking Prepar3D version builds on the original and adds ten times the coverage area and twice as many custom buildings! Over 120 custom POIs have been recreated, including the iconic Opera House with its distinctive sail-like design, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which are the centre points of the scenery. Coupled with crisp 60cm imagery from Aerometrex that perfectly blends with AUv2, Cityscape Sydney is a major overhaul of the biggest city in Australia. The water colour and details bring to life the world-famous Bondi Beach, with its white sandy beach, and Coogee beach, along with the spectacular bespoke 3D cliffs between Bondi and South Head. These improvements extend far beyond the primary coverage zone of the CBD. Major suburban centers such as Parramatta, Chatswood and many more have been replaced. Port Botany next to Sydney Airport has seen a major overhaul, with detailing and improvements to this landmark that is visible on all flights into and out of the airport. This is a must-have for P3D simmers who want to soak in the beauty of the Emerald City down under. At a glance 2,100 km² coverage area 124 POIs Complete autogen coverage 39,000 'CityEngine' buildings 8 landable helipads Optional 4k textures for some POIs Control Panel options to tweak performance Compatible with FlyTampa YSSY 9 custom ships including the Queen Mary II These KML files will show the extent of the features included with Cityscape Sydney CS_Sydney_P3D_POIs.kmlCS_Sydney_P3D_Helipads.kmlCS_Sydney_P3D_coverage.kmzCS_Sydney_P3D_CE_content.kml 13 1

Quick question: What are 'CityEngine' buildings and are they different from the usual Buildings HD / TrueEarth buildings autogen in order to preserve performance?

Hi there, CityEngine refers to the way the buildings have been generated, using Esri CityEngine as a basis (and further processing in other programs). It is a mix of generic buildings, which share only a few textures for performance reasons (like with autogen), and individual design via custom rules and 3D editing. 2

It just wouldn't be fair to say that. But the challenge here was not to increase performance, but to include as many details as possible and still make the scenery flyable and enjoyable. 1 1
PilotMathews
This looks awesome! Is there any possibility of this coming to X-Plane one day in the future? I think it'd fill a massive hole in Australian Scenery...

Nick Cooper
Hello John, not yet, it's still downloading all 29+ GB. I'll let you know but I see no reason for a few tweaks to affect this kind on scenery.

Straight from the first news item on the Prepar3D website: Quote The Prepar3D v5.3 Hotfix 1 (5.3.15.28130) is now available and can be downloaded immediately from the Purchased Downloads section of the website. The Prepar3D v5.3 Hotfix 1 contains resolutions for high priority issues identified after the Prepar3D v5.3 release. Some performance improvement has been noted by a few people over on the Avsim forums.
