Orbxtreme
In Sonoma, an Aeromexico MD-11 is taxiing for San Diego before further heading to Cancun Intl. The aircraft is loaded at only 1/3 of its capacity, the rest of the passengers waiting in San Diego. Airborne over Sonoma. Heading southward to San Diego. A few passengers, that had started to drink heavily in Sonoma, are already disrupting the flight. Aeromexico pilots immediately look for the closest airport that can handle the MD-11 and where several police officers are readily available. Half Moon Bay is the closest airport, with its 5000 ft runway. 50 degree flaps allows for a final at a speed around 150 kts. Slowing down in Half Moon Bay. The pilot is told to stop on the taxiway. Police has been advised. Here comes the cavalry!! Cheers!!
VH-KDK
Serves you right for carrying the members of the Mule Team! Wonderful views and some great flying to get your plane down on such a small airport. Mind you, with my experiences with the MD-11, getting drunk is the best way to deal with having to fly in one. A plane I hated flying in.
Stillwater
Two much Tequila served in business class even before takeoff, Francois? Or have there been some bad hombres on board? However, you found a good place to park, and the appropriate ground staff to welcome them!
renault
A well executed plan Francois Who pays for the cost of the diverted flight. I bet its someone who is in the row of virtual seats Cheers R

Jack Sawyer
These bring back a lot of memories. I love your shots and I sure do miss working these planes, they were a dream to maintain because they were so large and the cockpit is a glass cockpit dream. But I am sure you are the only one so I forgive you!! 2 hours ago, Stillwater said: Two much Tequila served in business class even before takeoff, Francois? Actually Tequila was served in the cockpit first and then the pilots shared with the passengers. Not a good idea... 2 hours ago, renault said: A well executed plan Francois Who pays for the cost of the diverted flight. Well it did, but it is clearly not recommended... 1 hour ago, Jack Sawyer said: These bring back a lot of memories. Jack, anybody who worked on those MD-11 should receive a special status on this forum. How about the company gives you 1% of the Orbx shares? Chunk
Great shots mate!! Also, those police vehicles should actually be San Mateo County Sheriff's Office vehicles, as that's where they have the EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) set up at. I may have some real life experience there...

Rodger Pettichord
Francois, this was like watching breaking news on TV. Sure kept my interest. May I ask if this reflects a real event? (PS: nice screenshots too)

(PS: nice screenshots too) No Rodger, it is only a fictive flight but I am sure that flights have been rerouted before due to passengers that are really misbehaving. I like to fly the MD-11 manually once in a while in order to keep up with the machine. To land in Half Moon Bay with it, you have to disengage the protection installed in the MD-11 that will automatically increase the power once you are under a certain speed. I suppose that if the exact same events had happened in real life, the pilot would never have chosen Half Moon Bay since the risks are too great. He would have picked a much longer runway. But that is the advantage we have with flight simulation...!
