I08 to U72

Wakashi

Recommended Posts

Fairly short hop from I08 to U72 (Upper Loon Creek) Challis ID, a USFS airstrip.  33 nm straight flight but my flight was 43 nm due to climb out of valley and following valley's.  Piper Pacer Tundra my plane of choice for small strips, Adam's PTA preset, Rex Soft Clouds, FltPlanGo.  Nice little flight set in spring (so the airport would not be covered in snow) 1400 hrs, except I changed the time to late evening on the last shot to get the sunset colors.  Enjoy, I did.

For those not familiar with bush flying, this website  https://backcountrypilot.org/ sure seems to me to give some
decent instruction on STOL take offs and landings in the back country for various planes.
Several nice instructional videos plus lots more!

1.Just cleared the mountains after leaving I08 Cabin Creek USFS airport Idaho

2. Headed south and east over the Payette National Forest

3. Slipping down into the valley to follow Loon Creek to the airport

4. Airport U71 ahead, elevation 5500'

5. Down safely, changed the time for the sunset colors (hope you don't mind)

Wicked nice Roger, I've been in the Payette forest, used to camp and fish there.  It's beautiful as shown.

Thanks Jack, lucky you to be able to do that!

Hey Roger. Love your plane. Looks like we have a real Bush Pilot in the making! Welcome!

Well, I don’t know about the Bush Pilot part (more like a Brush Hog)!  Yeah that little Piper Pacer PA-20 is fun although a little under powered for my taste.  Thanks for looking and commenting Rodger!
