Thanks for the thought Wolfco - but it's not really for JH - because JH as had a very good modern GC airport for

some time on the Marketplace

However just for thought that someone else has gone to the trouble of making what is probably a more update

version of my own airport - it will be a purchase👍

Now ------ if only someone can satisfy my real beef about MSFS - and it's now10 years old depiction of Australia

-and the Gold Coast - and give us a new UpToDate version of both

I took a flight yesterday - in P3D4 - there was my house - on the Orbx Gold Coast scenery from later - than MSFS's

BING - where my house that I have lived in for 10 years is only shown as a building site:angry:

It's about time. My favorite airport in MSFS. Every time I buy an aircraft for msfs I come to this airport to test them. Always have great weather. Please include helicopter starting points.

always priced like this even at the likes of PMDG, it's a placeholder showing what's coming whilst it's in final testing, you can't actually buy it, it should throw you an error if you try...

There's always been one at GC - and is just partially visible on pic 9 - left around 10 .00 clock - ie North of the oil tanks

Can't wait.  I tend to do a lot of short flights between Brisbane and Gold Coast airport in MSFS and look forward to having a proper Gold Coast airport.  Now if only someone can make a better rendition of Archerfield Airport, i'd be as happy as larry.  The one on flightsim.to isn't that good.

Yes, John, I saw that one in the pic. 9. what about helicopter companies at the airport?

I cant really answer that - but I did take a ride in one last year from the company hanger directly in line with the helly spot

Looks great @Matteo Veneziani ! One thing to add though in the screenshots over the areas where the water flows under taxiways there is a big fence there. This isn’t the case at the Gold Coast as there is no large fence of that size.  I’ve attached some images below of what I’m talking about and a photo I got today facing G towards runway 17. This is the same case with the other areas that have it along the holding points down 14/32. Just wanted to let you know thx and excellent work again!

You know that MSFS has a very user friendly scenery creator included in the SDK? There's nothing to stop you selecting a suitable size area around your house, or just your own block, and making a scenery with aerial imagery and a suitable house model. Since the MSFS worldwide scenery is essentially free I don't think endlessly harping on about the age of the scenery is going to get you anywhere.

Hi All.

Wondering when we can expect a release?

I was surprised given the streamers were given a copy a week ago, I expected an imminent release thereafter.

Anyhow credit card is ready....

Best,

Mike

I was secretly hoping for an Australia Day release! Oh well I will just keep eagerly waiting 🙂

Yes I know... but the beta team discovered that the paint on the terminal walls was modelled as Taubmans but in reality it's Dulux, so a crew has been sent in to repaint all the buildings with the correct brand of paint. And with the shortage of tradies these days who knows how long it will take.

I need to think about this - I find the Orbx one (Sorry Mateo) tarmac reminds me of the worn planked flooring in an old cotton mill back home in Lancashire - and the 3-10 parking areas are missing

However  -      the backside buildings are a bit more photogrammetry in general than the opposition's

but I much prefer the opposition's rendering of the tarmac - especially close up.

I quite like the top image, BUT I have no local knowledge like John who actually resides in the Gold Coast.

Unrelated question to John. Brisbane up the coast has done as a city pack. Does the Gold Coast / Surfers Paradise etc also deserve a city pack or is the default scenery good enough?

If you look on Google Earth the tarmac is much closer to reality in this version.  The oil and tyre staining appears to be more pronounced than in reality, but I think it's a closer representation than the other image.  The imagery would have been supplied by a specialist aerial imagery firm, and this would have been how their cameras captured the tarmac.

John

I wouldn't be too reliant on the Google depiction since it is almost as old as the Bing used in MSFS - in fact - probably at least 8 years old - compared with

the 10 years of Bing.

A number of current areas are lacking - in fact - the Google current Sat - does not have the new terminal extensions  built some time ago

with quite a bit of the whole tarmac resurfaced. The current Bing sat. is up to date and yes the tarmac looks more like Matteo's pic.

However - it is purely a matter of taste - and in reality - no effect at all on whether or not - I use it - which I will - because I have bought it - and it

helps Matteo want to do more - (Gold Coast City Scape Please!)

The Brisbane pack you mention is very good and so up to date - it even has Buildings not yet finished;)

A condition that is most definitely different to the Gold Coast used in MSFS - which is based upon a Bing Sat - 10 years old - and

most blokes on this forum are well aware of my criticisms of that debacle.

Most definitely!! - the Gold Coast - a major Tourist area of Australia - and is the prime tourist destination for locals and overseas visitors alike

and should be represented as accurate as possible. - For example - most of the current Australian scene is so out of date - and if it wasn't for

Orbx's efforts with their City Schemes and airports - and 3rd party developers - it would be an insult to us - to depict our country as it is currently

in MSFS - despite a so-called upgrade - 12 months ago- which seemed to purely based on all the work done by Orbx.

When P3D was all the go - Orbx produced a GC city /airport pack that was very good - and would have been true to life 12 years ago - and its

features are very close to the current MS effort..

We need another ---from someone!

Hi John.

I use Google Earth Pro.

Not sure if it's common knowledge but when you zoom in beyond a certain level 1985 appears at the bottom left.

GEload.thumb.jpg.a036e8ecd95d0c95ddc4aea566b1db36.jpg

Clicking on that makes a slider appear in top left which allows you to select imagery from various dates. The most recent for Gold Coast appears to be November 2022, just after the new terminal opened.

GEadjusted.thumb.jpg.6380cb56fee330c3039fc946f02234dd.jpg

All the best,

John

Thanks John - but I can't afford the "Pro" version on my pension:rolleyes: and my version does not have the facility you describe.

First up - your first one showing the 1985 one is causing me confusion - since it is dated 15-1 - 2016 as Imagery date

which sort of confirms my estimated date I referred to as the one possibly used by John Dow in his letter earlier? -

(although it is dated on mine as a 2024 image) - albeit - a later date than the one currently used on MSFS - which should

be the latest Bing - which is shown as 2020 on my PC.

No matter which one we look at - the Google of 2016 - or the latest Bing - the tarmac is much lighter and less like my

"Cotton Mill Planking" definition.

Hello Carlos,
that was released yesterday, almost at the same time as the product was.

This is Matteo's reply on Discord:

Quote

That it is not an " enhancement mod " it is just a mod that gives changes to who prefer to do not have some objetcs in the scenery.
It also gives more parking spaces. Note: add more parking spaces could cause conflict between aircraft
The 11 missing bays it is because it is not possible to have L-R bays+ central parking.
Could cause conflict.
Use this mod as your risk.

I gotta say I am really liking the fact that people are pointing things out in a nice civil way and we are getting lots of feedback from testers, mods, residents locally and customers.....just thought it needed pointing out, that's why I'm here.....I haven't bought yet but expect I will soon....

Great work @Orbx!  I searched the forums for information on future releases or potential airports.  My question is focused on Australia.  I have been a customer since you released Broome for FSX back in 2010-2011 (I believe).  I mostly fly the PMDG B737NG (and hopefully later this year, their B737MAX).  I usually rely on Orbx for Australian airports and was wondering if Broome, Darwin, Townsville, and some of the airports now served by Bonza are in the MSFS 2020/2024 development plans.  I see that another developer has Darwin and Townsville, but again, I would rather get these from Orbx.  Just curious and thanks as always!

Luis
