Brings back memories

In 1986 I spent four months in Cambridge, just outside Boston, so I flew from KBOS a few times. I enjoyed my time there alongside the Charles River.

Boston Logan International Airport opened on September 8, 1923, and at that time it was mainly used by the Massachusetts Air National Guard and the United States Army Air Corps. During this time, it was known as Jeffery Field. The first scheduled commercial passenger flights to start at the new airfield were on Colonial Air Transport between Boston and New York City, starting in 1927. Nowadays more than 31m people pass through the airport each year.

It is located three miles northeast of downtown Boston in Massachusetts, NE USA.

Awesome Paul!  I get up mere yards from this airport, maybe 500 yards.  Nice shots.

Dang, I hate auto correct.  I meant grew up mere yards from here.  The planes were so low over the houses we weren’t allowed to fly kites, literally.  But it gave me my love for aviation.

A nice spread of images Paul. Like others, I have been through this airport several times, usually when I am headed to Vermont for some east coast skiing. It is a nice airport inside and the current interior modelling in real life is very cool and modern.

Great shots & memories, Paul. So does the historic livery of Onassis´ airline.

Thank you kindly Gerold :). Indeed quite a varied history of the airline and the Onassis family.

Many thanks Landon :).

From memory my wife was flying (to the UK) from KBOS about the day of the TWA 727 aircraft bombing. As she was flying TWA, needless to say she was interviewed at the gate and the aircraft was almost empty.

Wow...such a small world sometimes, huh Paul? Sometimes we are so close to something big like that.

Indeed Landon, obviously I rang her as soon as she landed. She said that the onboard service was fantastic.

Great shots Paul :) the airport is by Fly Tampa isn't it? It's very good, I have it in P3d. And the 787 with the shiny fuse again...

which one is it?

Thanks Andreas :). Yes the airport is by Orbx partner FlyTampa. It is high quality. The 787 is the stock one in MSFS with a different livery.

A beautiful set Paul and that airport looks first class but I have yet to try getting a tubeliner off the ground!

I like the old colours too.

I like the wingflex third from the end.

I used to do a lot of photography from the hotel roof in Bangkok and the 787 was easy to pick from miles away with it's big smiling wings!

Thanks Martyn :). Indeed, some of the airports seem to have amazing detail.

I too noticed the wingflex when taking the outside shots.

The MSFS tubeliners are ok. Certainly a good place to start in the sim.

Against my better judgement, I bought the PMDG 737-600 yesterday. I already have it in P3D, but the price is good. I won't fly it though until I have enough free time to re-learn everything!
