VH-KDK
Flying north from Victoria for about 10 miles brings us to the famous Butchart Gardens. The family originally had a cement business and when the quarry was exhausted in 1909 they spent the next 12 years turning it into the Sunken Gaardens. The gardens have gradually expanded over the years and are now listed as a National Historic Site of Canada. Here is part of the Sunken Garden. Butchart Cove, where you can arrive to visit the gardens by boat or seaplane!

It was an excellent place to visit and very crowded too in other parts of the gardens. Yes, I would have liked to have spent more time there as well. My brother knew of some of the places as well as recommendations by friends and relatives. There is also a wealth of information on the internet. Of course places like the Grand Canyon are well known and advertise themselves.
