Flying north from Victoria for about 10 miles brings us to the famous Butchart Gardens.

The family originally had a cement business and when the quarry was exhausted in 1909 they spent the next 12 years turning it into the Sunken Gaardens.

The gardens have gradually expanded over the years and are now listed as a National Historic Site of Canada.

Butchart Cove, where you can arrive to visit the gardens by boat or seaplane!

No wonder you took so many real photos Martyn, I can see some very cool posts in the future, like this one.

I enjoy using my cameras when I am travelling Jack.

Plenty of snaps from my trip to share on here tied in with the wonderful ORBX scenery.:)

What a beautiful place to see Martyn, I could spend a lot of time there. :D

It was an excellent place to visit and very crowded too in other parts of the gardens.

Yes, I would have liked to have spent more time there as well.

Fantastic shots & place Martyn. Looks really like "TrueEarth".

How did you make your travel planning, mate? Choosing all these little gems on an entire planet does not sound so easy.

Cheers Gerold, it didn't take me long to weed out a few images from here!

My brother knew of some of the places as well as recommendations by friends and relatives.

There is also a wealth of information on the internet.

Of course places like the Grand Canyon are well known and advertise themselves.:)
