Thank you all for any images/videos that could help me on modelling this airport :D

Hey mate,

I am currently training in CPL at OOL. Have a red asic so airside access (GA apron mainly) isn't a problem, but currently pretty busy and probably can't take the shots needed.

If you email GC airport, explain it etc they could organise something I am sure.

If you did need any help I may or may not be able to help in some way.

Chuck us an email at goldstartextures@outlook.com

Cheers

By the way, if anyone can get us access to airside for photos at Cooly that would go a long way to getting it done.

John please PM me (as you cannot receive!) or contact me via my forum email address.

I can help

Scott

Good news about YBCG and Hobart :) being on the agenda. Sound like terrific packages.

Can I humbly ask where the update of YSCB airport is on the agenda? I enjoy exploring the National Capitol's surrounds and the fine detail but the Terminal and tarmac depicted in the scenery (and depicted in the banner on the product page currently being sold) was pulled down in 2010.

An update is foreshadowed in the YSCB manual. I was just wondering where it was on the busy agenda? Please keep up the good work.

Aussie.

Indeed I live and fly in Canberra it would be awesome to see YSCB upgraded to the new terminal buildings since it's all now complete.

Not even being from the great Land Down Under, I am still overjoyed by the news in this thread :) Way back when I first started with Orbx, the only FTX scenery was for Australia....and I have loved it ever since! I consider Australia and Tasmania my sim home away from home. It will be so nice to get some new scenery developed for that land :)

Tasmania is part of Australia.

I'm sure you know that but when the two are mentioned separately with an 'and' between them sometimes it make me wonder

You would be surprised how many of your fellow countrymen I have met in my travels that either don't know that or worse still have never heard of the 'jewel' island but have heard of 'TAZ' made famous by Warner Brothers..

Thanks for pointing that out Chumley, but yes, I was aware that Tasmania is part of Australia. I do understand how many of my fellow Americans are not so geographically aware as they probably should be. That has been an annoyance of mine during my long military career, and frankly I wish more was done to teach my countrymen and women about geography. I know in Europe there is much more emphasis on that subject. Anyhow, I digress...do not want to stray off topic too far.

As for Tasmania, it's been more than a few years now, but if I recall, the Tasmania demo was the very first FTX scenery I checked out. I do remember my first impression of YMLT Launceston. I had this 'wow!, Orbx scenery is really amazing' moment that has of course just exploded since then.

So great news here, starting with AUv2, and going on with all the other projects in OZ. A continent which did not get enough updated virtual airports in the last years!

I have put something into my budget. And some extra, in case my dream of an upgraded Launceston should become true...

Hi Matteo, do you require any further pictures, or do you have all the resources to develop this very interesting airport? :)

Check out Tweed Heads Lighthouse, some interesting POI in that area.

Hey Matteo,

Unfortunately I don't live around that area anymore, but perhaps some of our other Oz users can give you a helping hand.

Hope all is well with the development -- purchase right off the bat for me when it is released :)

Having flown in and out of Coolangatta last week I jumped on here to see if there was any talk of an airport - and sure enough there is!

The South Gold Coast is a beautiful area to fly into. Unfortunately it wasn't the clearest morning when we flew in, but I thought I would attach a couple of pics I took with my phone as we approached .

I'll certainly be adding "Cooly" to my list if it is released :)

I live at Kirra Beach, just a few minutes drive from  YBCG and fortunately not in the flight path.

Can sit in the Spa at night (when I'm not flightsimming )and watch the planes take off and land.

Super excited about ORBX bringing out my home airport.

JV: I would be happy to assist with YBCG. You have many landside photos of Cooly already.  Airside photos will be harder as it is a fully secured international airport, and Australia is now a touchy place.  However I will be flying from Cooly next Monday and I could at least take some shots as I walk, and climb up to the aircraft. There are no airbridges: so here's hoping we won't get lots of rain during the Commonwealth Games.  Also it is possible to get quite good photos from the viewing area just to the west of R32 threshold which is also reasonably close to the terminal and GA buildings.  Matteo has my contact details.  GC city without a good YBCG would not be quite right.

Macca. A few years ago I flew Launceston to Coolangatta (not direct).

At Launceston I took photos on the tarmac and no one said anything as you could take the same sort of photos only a few meters away in the public viewing area which was behind a low mesh fence.

At Coolangatta, I tried the same thing and literally got jumped on by hostesses, airside personnel, and security. I doubt if you would get away with it.

Interesting to know, Petfy. Maybe you contact @Matteo Veneziani, he could be interested in your Launy shots as well.

Launceston shots are now well out of date. I know they now have some sort of impenetrable fence between the observation area and the tarmac, not one that you can simply step over. I suspect that the airport has undergone significant changes since I was there.

Also, while I'm at it. There is a small rescue helicopter pad at Carrara on the Gold Coast (no ICAO). I suspect that it is no longer used. Could this be included in the Gold Coast cityscape?

When I was use to live in Brisbane we would also take AirAsia from KL to YBCG - I was always fascinated to see the A330 roll down RW 14, or 32

I had a chance to try out the approach many years ago in a 737 sim, and well , it didn't end up so well at the end.
