Stillwater
It is a pity that flights between South Africa and Europe are mostly scheduled so that you won´t be able to see the land below. In simmers words: The beautiful scenery. But what shall we do: LH577 starts in FACT at 17:45 hrs. So we see them getting stuffed (that works faster than before Covid, as they now save on service, "upon customers request"). Pushed back into the evening... ... and today we start in southerly direction, towards False Bay. Not the smallest town, this one near the Cape. As we are talking about the Cape: Chapmans Peak in the evening sun... ... and a view back to the Mother City. The wineyards near Winterhoek. And the fascinating view down to the Equator. Hours later with just a slight different look: This is Vicenza. And, still in darkness, Mannheim (to the right) and Ludwigshafen (left), connected by two Rhine bridges. We help the people of Mainz to wake up with our engine sound... You can spot the famous cathedral near the Rhine, south of the bridge. Gliding down into the 07C of Frankfurt. Time to stop. And the beautiful european weather welcomes us. Pretty straightforward the route was. And you can see how many interesting countries we passed in the darkness.
andiflyit
Great set again Gerold, you are the long distance professional! I like the last shot at EDDF, it's excellent. 1

Sniper31
Now that IS a long flight Gerold, and I enjoyed your humor throughout the flight. Lots of good images here, especially those evening departure shots of the cape and surrounding area. Like that flight route map too! Captain Lars
Very good narration, Gerold. To aliviate the night flights, I sometimes use the time preview function, so that I can take at least some pictures. But then again, other flights are so stuffed with sight seeing that I end up with a lot of nearly identical pictures. 1
paulb
Gosh! a proper long distance flight Gerold. Not much fuel left at the end of the journey? 1
BradB
That 5th shot is a doozy Gerold , should be in the contest this month .
VH-KDK
Wonderful images from your flight Gerold and good to see you have my preferred LH colours on your Screamliner. So the Cape Town is named after a geographical feature and there was me thinking it was because Batman lived there. I also liked the night views over Germany and the cockpit image on finals is excellent.

These study-level widebodys are still a big advantage of p3d, let´s see when the new kid can compete. The EDDF weather was a surprise after some days of flying in South Africa. Maybe I can take a real life shot later this year in Frankfurt to compare... 11 hours ago, Sniper31 said: Now that IS a long flight Gerold, and I enjoyed your humor throughout the flight. With such a long night flight there ain´t many occasions to take screenshots, and I did them with every glimpse of light available... . In this documentation I could not decide between the two maps: One shows the routing better, the other one the countries. 10 hours ago, Captain Lars said: Very good narration, Gerold. One has to be patient using the v-key on these long distance flights. But I´d love to see more from Africa on this fantastic routing... 10 hours ago, paulb said: Gosh! a proper long distance flight Gerold. Not much fuel left at the end of the journey? Here we come with the deep dive into information, Paul: When you click on the cockpit shot just before touchdown, you can see the remaining fuel on the EICAS, bottom right: it was 8.6 * 1000 lbs (at 0°C, with an outside temperature of 8°C). Just enough for half an hour delay, so indeed a bit on the short side... 7 hours ago, BradB said: That 5th shot is a doozy Gerold , should be in the contest this month . Thank you John, will do. I have not enetered into the competition since MSFS came up... 5 hours ago, VH-KDK said: Wonderful images from your flight Gerold and good to see you have my preferred LH colours on your Screamliner. With the reduction in service on most airlines (except the Asian ones) "Screamliner" hits the point. Imagine a situation when they serve what they call "food" and everyone would start to scream... While the Mule Team keeps climbs up in rankings... Usually you are well informed why places are named as they are. I should check the Batman story, probably at Freakypedia. 1

Qantas pilots forced to declare mid-air emergency after almost running out of fuel near Perth | Daily Mail Online Interesting read: First emergency, finally 40 minutes fuel left. Sounds like the practice Ryanair pilots were famous for, in order to land on time and with less fuel used. Can only work until all airlines do it - some call that egoism. The next step is getting into real emergency. 1
