John, why didn't you come to Hawaii when I was still living there? You could have had a personal tour guide and chauffeur ;) At any rate, it is wonderful to hear that you are well and all is okay.

Great to hear you're doing well John, and the travelling sounds great.  It's always good to change things up a bit.  As they say, a change is as good as a holiday, and it seems you've done both.

I have booked myself a flight and 5 nights in Honolulu next May too Landon.  There was a sale on a few months ago right around the time testing started for the ORBX Honolulu scenery, so I jumped at the chance.  Looking forward to the flight on a 787 mostly ....although I'm sure I'll enjoy my time on the ground in Hawaii too.

Any specialist recommendations for tourists?  Pearl Harbour is a must, and I'm going to take a chopper flight while I'm there too.

Cheers,

Okay Scott, Pearl Harbor is a must of course, you are right. Take time to tour the WWII submarine that is at the Pearl Harbor memorial (amazing how small it is inside). Also, over on Ford Island the USS Missouri is worth a stop and also, there is an amazing WWII aircraft museum on Ford Island that a lot of people miss out on. Several vintage aircraft in there. Definitely get out of Honolulu and tour the North Shore side of the island. Also, even though it is typical tourist kind of thing, I do suggest attending a good Luau (there are several good ones, just ask your concierge in your hotel) as they are a good bit of fun. Another really fun and adventurous thing to do on the North Shore side is some zip-lining. Look up Keana Farms Zipline Oahu to book. It is well worth it and you will see some sights of the island that the average tourist never sees.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

As Landon said the Zip line tour is a must , we spent some time on the North Shore at Turtle Bay Resort and it was fabulous . One day trip we did was to the Dole Plantation and I found the train ride around the property very interesting . If you get out to the North Shore , check out Sunset Beach where the Surf competition's are . We saw some 24 foot waves crashing in to shore

Oh! I forgot about the Dole Plantation....the train ride IS interesting (and who doesn't love trains). Also, one must have a Dole Whip...yummy :)  Good suggestion John!
