Aimee Sanjari
Hello all, We have another British airport for you: EGFF Cardiff International is the busiest airport in Wales and it's coming soon to X-Plane 11! Passenger numbers were 1.464 million in 2017 and are increasing year-on-year. Cardiff Airport is located near the village of Rhoose in the Vale of Glamorgan. This X-Plane version has been faithfully reproduced in stunning detail including the General Aviation area, BA maintenance hangars, surrounding housing and buildings, the cliff-side trailer park, power station to the south and the aquaduct railway bridge. EGFF is perfect for short and scenic Q400/A3X ops to EGHI Southampton. Key Features: Detailed 30cm ground poly Jetways and GSE Detailed static aircraft Volumetric grass GA terminal Great performance Blends into TrueEarth GB South Cars and buses in carpark Full night lighting WT3 compatible Please note that for the best experience, we recommend using EGFF in conjunction with TrueEarth Great Britain South. The scenery will work without it, however some users may experience the following: Missing or misplaced forests Missing or misplaced buildings surrounding the airport Photoreal blending EGFF Cardiff Airport will be available to purchase from OrbxDirect soon for AUD $32.95 (approx. USD $24.35 / €21 / £18.50) - Previous buyers of the FSX/P3D version of the FTX EU Wales region will get an automatic 40% discount. Jon Clarke
No mention of it being WT3 or Xlife compatible.
John Venema
It is WT3 compatible, and it should work with Xlife since we have joined all the taxiways, runways and parking spots logically.
Traveller
Very nice job. So, England and GB are quickly becoming a new world for us from X-Plane.

Pilot
Hello and thank you for bringing Cardiff to X-Plane! Looking at the screenshots I understand that this is a port of the FSX/P3D version of ORBX. However, there are some discrepancies now with the real-life airport. For example, the new paneling and the characteristic blue short length jetways are missing. Do you plan to update the scenery in the future or it will most probably stay in that form? Captain Lars
Looking really good. Surprising to bring this out first for a rather VFRable simulator. I haven't heard that PMDG would be going to XPlane. Will Cardiff be made available for P3D?
John Venema
It is already available for FSX/P3D as part of FTX EU Wales region.

If you ever do you would be very surprised and will never go back to P3D.
KelvinD
Absolutely beautiful work! You guys have done a fantastic job of bringing Cardiff Airport over to X-Plane. And as it’s my local airport I’m surprised but very pleased that you’ve updated it with the airport’s new branding. And since you have been updating it, would it now be a good time to also correct the rather curious phrase on the Orbx page for EU Wales...? ‘The Capital of Wales is a de facto designation usually applied to Cardiff since 1955.’ It was in 1955 that Cardiff became the official capital! Nice spot! I think the minister for Welsh Affairs had wrote a letter on 20th December 1955 to the House of Commons confirming Cardiff's position as the Captial of Wales following a ballot between the welsh athorities the previous year. To be honest I'm not sure if that was official in the eyes of the Government straight away and may explain why many articles mention the word 'proclaimed' Capitol of Wales which Orbx may have picked up on. So you could well be right but I wouldn't say it a massive deal, isn't it more important the content in the sim is correct, and from John's comments earlier they are doing there utmost to provide the latest and greatest version of EGFF for XPlane! Greg Jones
15 hours ago, Gussgull said: Hi everyone, I'm looking in to the AI at EGFF at the moment. In the meantime, you might want to check that your WT3 install isn't using previously created ground routes (for the default airport). The best thing to do is to go to your \X-Plane 11\ClassicJetSimUtils\WorldTraffic\GroundRoutes\Arrival and \X-Plane 11\ClassicJetSimUtils\WorldTraffic\GroundRoutes\Departure and delete the EGFF folder in each. Go back to X-Plane and regenerate the ground routes using the WT3 interface. This should remove any issues of alignment with taxiways/parking areas. In the meantime I'll double check if anything needs to happen at our end. Cheers, Greg

Glad you got it sorted! I presume that the AI model can't handle the turn radius required to make the bend at the end of the runway. I'll see if we can trim the start point to closer to the taxiway entry point. Greg
