KSAN My Final Shots.

Recommended Posts

The Jarrad is strong in Matteo. What a great project to premiere yourself to the community. Gonna be hard to top this with his follow up project but I feel he is ready for the challenge. Congrats Matteo on your 1st of hopefully many addon Orbx sceneries...its a stunner!!

You know, I refused to even think about this scenery as I really like the Latin VFR version, and I kind of think of it as a waste to replace a perfectly good scenery - BUT - this is such an outstanding representation of such a huge area, I think that, possibly, I might need it; Definitely .

Iain, didn't you do a final set yesterday or did I enter some space/time continuum?  All outstanding, I hope this means a release today?  My CC is ready and I so, so, so, want this.  I can't believe how lifelike this.  I've been to San Diego several times and to me this is just what I remember.  This Matteo fellow is certainly very talented and if this is his first, gosh, imagine what else he'll produce?  This is Jarrad quality to be sure.

It would really make my day if I could download it today.

Hmmm, I think I was in that same space/time continuum, Jack.  But whatever, it's always a happy feeling to see that thread titled "My Final Shots".

Well spotted Jack I did but they were not very good and did not show how this great piece of work should look so I re did the shots today.

cheers

Wow!  And I thought yesterday's were outstanding.  I didn't see anything out of place and was blown away by how nice they were.  These are awe inspiring too.  At least I didn't enter a time warp!

Thanks Iain for some always classy Iain style shots.  All very beautiful.

Capt. Jack patiently waits (or tries too.). B)

Well, yet again I seem to be typing the same words to you Iain...smashing shots! Matteo appears to have rendered this scenery marvelously, and your pictures are proof. This will be an airport scenery package that I purchase for sure! I grew up near San Diego, and my father still lives there. What a wonderful city and it appears that Matteo has hit a home run with this one!

The same for me. This scenery is from another world.

Well Folks,

we have not seen convincing night shots of San Diego yet.

And I am afraid there could be just Orbx streetlamps

above a dark ground.

And the airport itself:

I do not see a point in placing static aircraft,if these are not typical for

that airport.

The BA747 was mentioned above,Frontier Dash8 at the Southwest Terminal?

Not a single Southwest static aircraft, although Southwest is quiet dominant at KSAN,

with their specific service vehicles and clutter.

As I stated in the other KSAN thread, just an uninspired choice from the standard Orbx

aircraft library,without creating anything new.

Well, the praised Jarrad always adds new aircraft with interesting liveries to his sceneries!

I do not see any KSAN specific vehicles or clutter at the screens.

And obviously there is only one model for the static jetways in a very abnormal posture.

If You do not know the airport, look at Google Earth and compare the jetway's postures!

And I do not see the point in placing static aircraft and creating static jetways that do not dock to those

aircraft.

Just less work and effort?!

So in which league does Matteo wants to play?

The Drzewiecki Design leage with a great VFR scenery and a "light" airport scenery,

or at least wishing to come close to the big names like Fly-Tampa or Flightbeam?

Also some newcomers like Vidan Design with Billund or Jetstream design with Linate

show what defines an outstanding airport scenery:

Love for the detail !!!

I love the GA airfields and small airports that ORBX have released in the last years,

and yes, judging from the screenshots, LOWI is going to be a masterrpiece.

So hopefully Jarrad´s Innsbruck and the upcoming ORBX Bilbao scenery will create

the thrill and esthetic pleasure, that I expect from an ORBX scenery!

BA Flight 273 / 272 Boeing 744 Heathrow to San Diego and back. can be seen on all flight tracking apps and passes my house at ~1715 hours most days.

I am concerned about the lack of fantasy immersion, i love the gate connected to the A/C and parking aides. though i am likely to purchase this when its released because i really want my home port in the box.

It does appear that some of the static commercial planes are not accurate or parked at the correct gates.  The lack of SW Airlines is obvious.  I assume AI traffic will fill those gates. The city looks awesome but I'm not so certain about the airport.  It looks like the clutter is pretty generic and airline clutter is missing.  Very interesting product though.

Great shots as always, Ian!

Matteo, all I can say is "you are the man!" There is noticeable improvement in your texture work since the first beta shots appeared. And I mean night and day noticeable!  A great developer takes to heart criticism from the customer as well as the beta team. And from the looks of it, you are a great developer. Well done, man. Well done!

I couldn't care less about the very very small detail. It look to me that there is a LOT of work and on top a perfect blending with SC region.

Get a life? Couldn't care less about the very very small detail? nitpickers are not bad or bad people, trolls are. nitpickers want and expect the best out of these developers and are providing constructive criticisms in order for the makers of this fine product to know what omissions or mistakes were made, even down to the smallest detail. We question, comment and "nitpick" because we care.

lain, all I can say is WOW.  This is a very very heavy VAS area and somehow you managed to load up some spectacular shots here and even got off the ground in an Airbus which I am assuming is the FSL or Aerosoft but either way you still managed it.....I am speechless as to how you get this all to work with your crazy settings!

Just mind blowing shots here as always lain, you are the man!

Maybe that is the point,it looks like a lot of work,as Benny said.

Like a commissioned work.

Work completed - congratulations!

I do not see any love or even passion for this airport in this scenery.

Why does Jarrad create all those yellow service vehicles for his Innsbruck scenery,

so much work for so very very small details.

He just could have spared his precious time!

Why did he create static aircraft with Austrian liveries,he just could have taken some

existing from the Orbx library.

Why did he treat the lightmaps of the static aircraft in Eagle Vail, that those aircraft look

like really illuminated in the apron light - he could have just taken the typical Orbx

static aircraft with their yellow-orange lightmaps.

What are all the small Orbx airfields for, that nobody knows and nobody needs.

It is obvious that at some point the designer thought or FELT,

wow, what a lovely place -  I want to share it with the flightsim world,

I want to recreate the charm and lovelyness of this place.

I mean,who needs 77S,S43 or WA79.

And then again,I recommend again for all of you

that do not know the real San Diego Airport,

take a look at Google Earth, look at the photos that are posted there,

look at the colourful Southwest service fleet there.

Southwest could just have painted their fleet grey - who cares for

very small details like colours...

Enough for today,I am waiting for Jarrad's Innsbruck

and a Bilbao scenery, where the designer knows, what an alpha channel is

and the waves are rolling and smashing against the rocks of the basque coast,

like in real life!

Chears,

Jens P.

I think this San Diego project looks great! You go on and on about the static aircraft in every post. In all honesty with 25 years in this hobby I ask you why not use some real AI traffic instead of looking at a static non moving body of an aircraft. I have the complete opposite opinion from you. For me the first thing I do with any payware airport is remove all static aircraft and replace with dynamic AI traffic that actually moves. You see, everyone wants different things, the developer cant please everyone.

And regarding 77S, S43 that you state nobody needs, well I need them!! :)

As stated earlier, sometimes I strongly wish the Orbx forums had a dislike button! Your post is a perfect example why!

First, Lain, was this really your last shot :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Second, ORBX as gone a long way, for those of us, the big fan and faithful customers we came to appreciate all the new stuff coming out since... 2-3 years.

Sorry ORBX but we are far from the simple little simpler airfield you gave us a few years ago, now for almost the same price we get a mini region like Pago Pago..... (1 of many example)

Some time ago JV told us no major airport anymore :D Look at KSAN and many others.

Even Valdes and some others Norway airport came with some stunning surrounding.

I feel that we are getting A LOT for our well earned money.

I'm sold to this one like about any other one

Hey Mike,

if you remove Jarrad´s static aircraft you really miss something,

especially at night, when all the ai-planes are just like black holes

on illuminated aprons.

And no,its not all about static aircrafts, its about the specific athmosphere

of an airport, its life and its colours and its specific vehicles!

If Jarrad would release Innsbruck with less details, vehicles etc.

he surely would not sell one copy less.

But he WANTS his work to be perfect

and that is an attitude,I really admire!

Concerning 77S you did not get my point.

I have almost all the small ORBX airfields and I love them!

I was referring to their designers attitude and motivation.

I am sure, all of them have well paid jobs and there is no existential

need to create those sceneries,

no need for all those lovely details, that are - work and

time-consuming.

And we do not feel any need to have those places on our HD,

places we did not even know before we saw the screenshots

here at the ORBX site.

There is no objective need,to buy these sceneries.

There is something that is touching us in their work,

and here is where the magic starts - the moment of art!

As I wrote above, they obviously want to share something with us,

reveal something to us.

Just think of the wall-painting at 77S!

An artist will not consider his paintings as hard work in the first

place, even if he makes his living with them.

You can say, well done Matteo, all those correctly hand-placed objects.

I repeat,I miss the love for this special airport, the humour and playfulness,

I see in almost any ORBX release.

I miss the ORBX-spirit!

Wolfko, what do you dislike in my post?

Arguments,please!

Anyway, all of you who are thrilled from the screenshots, enjoy the

release of this scenery!

And all San Diego residents here I would like to invite for a beer,

sunset at Cabrillo Point, the old lighthouse,

wind in our hairs, watching the waves and the incoming and

departing planes on a clear southern californian evening,

next time I am in town.

Peace brothers,enjoy life and flightsimulation!

Jens P.

Hi guys.  I am just returning from spending three months in San Diego area.  Picked up and dropped off relatives at KSAN.  the terminals like exactly like the real deal.

I haven't seen all the screens hots so I don't know if it's covered but Alaska Airlines and Southwest are big there as well other airlines .  Hope they are represented.

Once I get home in a few days I will be able to look at the detail closer.

Time to come back for a visit !

Of course flying in!

I remerber the 90s when the American 727 came in,

just some feet above Pacific Hwy.

What a hell of noise standing down there!

As an aviation enthusiast I was thrilled but felt pity

for the people living in the flight path!

Jet engines have changed and it is good that they are

not so loud anymore.

I suppose, the young folks here cannot even imagine

that a 737 with full thrust on take-off could make the

window-screens of your house shake and tremble even 2 miles away from

the airport.
