  1. I have sorted sceneries according to countries and Hungary VFR (naturally) in a Hungary folder. If I acticate Hungary, I have to keep in mind to uncheck that special LHBP entry. Not a big deal but there's a danger to forget it. Otherwise I think that's the way to go. Kind regards, Michael
  2. I usually check the Addon Linker MSFS Addons / Community folder for conflicts if I install a new scenery which I did here as well. The tricky point with LH Simulations LHBP is we bought it via Marketplace, thus it is installed into the Official folder where I didn't find it. I don't think naming to .OFF does help, though. All directories in the Community folder are active, whatever their name. You probably will have to delete that folder, and this is what I did right now. Will check how this works tonight. Unfortunately you will have to repeat this after every update. There might be a more clever solution via the addon linker, perhaps. Kind regards, Michael
  3. This is a great addon, just installing. Does Hungary VFR intend to add more contents, e.g., Payware airports? Kind regards, Michael
  4. This tool does wonders beyond FFR. It also allows several more performance (AA-related) settings, color adaptation, experimental hand tracking (i.e. pressing buttons on the virtual cockpit using skeleton animated hands) if you have the hardware, and more. The only disadvantage, FFR is limited to RTX and GTX1600 cards, thus my - otherwise quite capable - GTX1080Ti is out. But this is a limitation of FFR itself not of the tool. The authors (one of the main coders is a Microsoft employee working on Open XR on daytime, the other one is the author of the well-known RXP) can't be thanked enough. Kind regards, Michael
  5. Hard to tell, but I had all sorts of issues with several paid AV programs (including Kaspersky and Bitdefender) in several simulators over the time. While they didn't block the corresponding core sims they gave me issues with specific addons. Indeed, I recall one program (I think it was connecting X-Plane to my Flight Instrument Panels) were I was near to give up, and making exceptions, including opening Firewall ports, or even deactivating the AV program didn't help. Finally I debugged with the author until he suggested uninstalling the Internet Security Program completely. This solved the case. Reinstalling and just deactivating blocked the connection again. And I recall a couple of more such experiences. This made me hate all those paid AV programs and I now have been using just Windows Defender for several years (making exceptions for protection and firewall ports as well) and I never had such issues since. This doesn't prove anything in your case, and it may be something completely different. But those AV programs can be pesky (and btw. may reduce performance as well). Kind regards, Michael
  6. Just saw it. In this case I'm at my wit's end. Kind regards, Michael
  7. I can second that. When I (very rarely) had CTDs it was always faulty or incompatible add-ons. (Aside one in-between MSFS version which was hotfixed within short time). I have all addons (including those by Orbx & friends) organized with the free Addon Linker. This way I can isolate faulty add-ons using a nesting procedure. It's a bit nasty (took an hour each) but always worked so far at the end. And btw., faulty addons can bring other sims to CTD as well. Believe me. Kind regards, Michael
  8. Perhaps Yokohama might be more successful than Cape Town etc. as it's close to Tokyo which has excellent scenery and is much used, notably since the Japan World Update. VFR Pilots at least tend to upgrade regions to discover. BTW, I bought all those you named and enjoy them much. Kind regards, Michael
  9. I didn't fly yet after the update, but it's always advisible to delete Scenery Indexes and contents.xml. The easiest way to do so is via the Addon Linker. Kind regards, Michael
  10. I made a lot of experiments with PG at the early days of MSFS. I have a 100MBit/s connection which is not exhausted and tried several cacheing options which all didn't help a iota. I think it's the base technology plus the raw data which are limiting. However, as Landon already stated, quality of PG differs largely. I found (all PG on) London is among the worst examples, Paris is somewhere in the middle of the road while Tokyo looks pretty good. MSFS head J. Neumann even stated once in a Q&A he finds London lacking himself and wants to redo it himself at a point. The last shot just is something which can't be done with PG. Otherwise, I find Paris not too bad in a height of ~3000 ft where I'm usually flying with my tiny C152. One more hint: Try various Zoom settings. Zoom is a factor often neglected in such discussions, but has a big influence on performance as well as display quality, notably using PG. Lower Zoom = better performance + less distortions, although it can't turn straw into gold. Kind regards, Michael
  11. Yes. Unfortunately, you'll have to get a second job. Plus, there is no 1:1 correspondence between P3D and MSFS Orbx addons. Aside the ones which don't make sense to port (like the TE regions) there are airports being exclusively available for one or the other sim (where P3D addons have a focus on NA while those for MSFS are more geared towards Europe). Kind regards, Michael
  12. 17th September, this year: Kind regards, Michael
  13. This would be much acknowledged. I already own both of them. Kind regards, Michael
  14. Verify files used to work for all games I know and those I tried. The only exception is (or was?) MSFS, for whatever reason, thus the warning Kind regards, Michael
  15. Verify MSFS files on Steam is broken. If you call it, it deletes the COMPLETE installation and redownloads all of it. I was bitten once myself, and there are several threads on this the Steam MSFS fora. Maybe they repaired it during the last weeks, but I highly doubt it. Kind regards, Michael Edit: AeroflyFS2 is missing for me, too. There's only MSFS, XP11, and P3D5.
  16. First, I let Orbx Central install the scenery into the Community folder (i.e. choose into the simulator). Next, I shift it using the corresponding Addon Linker functionality into a proper directory, i.e., if the scenery is in, say, Australia into M:\MSFS Addons\Australia This gives me a folder like M:\MSFS Addons\Australia\Orbx-cityscape-sydney That's it. Now you can activate it as needed using the Linker as usual. If Orbx Central has updates available, I just activate all sceneries (using the green Linker button) creating all links in the Community folder and Orbx Central forwards the updates via the links properly to the MSFS Addons directory where the scenery sits. Kind regards, Michael
  17. They both do, full speed ahead. Didn't you follow the Q&A a couple of days ago with Robert as a special guest? Kind regards, Michael
  18. Yes me. 10-15% perhaps. I think/hope it will evolve. Kind regards, Michael
  19. There may be a few niggles after updates now and then (only few for me, actually), but looking upon the big picture, this is the best FS ever for me, too, and by a wide margin. And I bought (and still have installed and fly occasionally) Prepar3D5, XP11, FSX, and AeroflyFS2. Kind regards, Michael
  20. I read (didn't start yet myself) all assistance option were reset to "Easy", why ever. Reset them to your previous settings and you should be good again. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/610440-su7-things-to-do-when-you-first-start/ Kind regards, Michael
  21. Thanks. This may be a bit disturbing for some (all new things are disturbing), but I think it's a (minor) improvement in usability. While I don't use the MSFS Store version I use some other programs from the Store. Kind regards, Michael
  22. Given they are Orbx partners, it's certainly allowed to mention NZA Simulations and AUscene as outstanding Payware/Freeware developers. Kind regards, Michael
  23. Plus, I am under the impression several of the developers of these older airports left Orbx. There are some new devs, but these may set other priorities, and as far as I understand, airports are largely a choice of the developers. Besides, there are a few very talented new non-Orbx devs at work for NZ/AUS. Kind regards, Michael
  24. Very well done. I have only few Swedish sceneries, but this one is a must. Kind regards, Michael
