  1. Thanks for the heads-up, John. I'll ask our good friend Nick for a correction. As for Him, me too.
  2. Hi all. John Heaton's moving tribute to Australian hospitality in a thread elsewhere in the Lounge Forum is worth your reading. It made me think of the current situation in our world where so many people are being forced to pack up and leave for new lives in new places. And it made me think of good friends who are first and second generation citizens of my own country. And of our "adopted' grandson who is second generation Sri Lankan American. All that reminiscing suggested this week's topic. THIS WEEK'S MEANINGLESS TOPIC: Celebrate a "foreigner" who has had a positive impact on your life.
  3. And today there are immigrants and refugees landing whose descendants will tell similar wonderful stories. Thanks to all who welcome the stranger. And thanks for sharing your story, John.
  4. Adam, I tried a bit of dancing to the oldies thanks to your videos. The orthopedic surgeon says he will release me from the hospital next Tuesday. Thanks a lot.
  5. De Havilland DH104 Dove & Devon Good question, John.
  6. "I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious," Albert Einstein. Like a cat with access to Google .
  7. Karl, I assume Einstein has purchased the maximum Mbps plan. Those cat videos really suck up the suds.
  8. A note of thanks to Nick Cooper. In submitting this week's thread, I twice fouled up the submission. In both cases, Nick stepped in gracefully and cleaned up the mess. Hats off to our Moderator!
  9. Hi all. My wife and I read mystery novels. Several of them have cats or dogs as main characters through whom the mystery is solved. Which brings us to this week's topic. THIS WEEK'S MEANINGLESS TOPIC: What were you doing when this dog caught you?
  10. My sense is that MSFS pulled the rug out from under many development companies. It crashed into the market without mercy, and the technical side of add-on development is nowhere as simple as initially promised. My hat is off to Orbx and all the other development companies who have no choice but to adapt to this 800 pound gorilla. I'm amazed at how well and gracefully Orbx has managed the early stages of transition. That's my two cents.
  11. Hey Sniper31, thanks for sharing these spectacular photos. What a great trip!
  12. Many didn't know that Watts brought a jazz shuffle beat into rock 'n roll. That's one of his major contributions to popular music. As one critic said, "Any drummer can rock, but Watts brought the roll."
  13. I am think these whole trusty and you should send many money to the good man for effort.
  14. I'm still enjoying the PNG pack. It would be great to have island packs of the same quality.
  15. Hi all. I need some guidance on proper Forum etiquette. I add to a few threads and notice that several folks seem to react with a "like" whenever I do so. Is it expected that we always do that? I had assumed we hit the various response buttons only when we had an actual response. I'm not on Facebook or Twitter or the like, so I don't know the common courtesies of social media. How does the etiquette work? I want to do the right thing.
  16. Graeme, memories indeed. My dad bought a junk '39 Willys from a farmer. The floor was rusted through and squirrels had built nests in the headlights. The farmer, however, had put a '49 Jeep motor and transmission in it, so it ran okay. Dad got out the house paint and painted it to match our tan and white house. The Willys/house color combination got plenty of comment in our small town.
  17. Hi all. I saw a Smart Car the other day--a real micro-vehicle. It made me think of other small cars that caught the public's fancy in their day. That musing leads to this week's topic. THIS WEEK'S MEANINGLESS TOPIC: Which of the following cars have you owned or driven? (Special medal to those who owned a Trabant). Citroen 2CV Volkswagon Beetle Nash Rambler Fiat 500 Crosley Willys Messerschmitt KR200 BMW Isetta
  18. Hi all. This week's topic asks you to recall a time when you were swimming and suddenly wished you weren't. For me, it's two times -- once in deep water off the promontory at Cam Rahn Bay where I was snorkeling and looked down to see a school of sharks; the other is at a deep-water drop-off in Bermuda when I was about ten feet down and looked seaward to see a group of barracudas suspended there and eyeing me. I felt like lunch. THIS WEEK'S MEANINGLESS TOPIC: What is the scariest thing you've seen while swimming?
  19. Candles and cake and a pint. Happy birthday Stewart.
