Hi all. Bush flyers should open their wallets and head for the Orbx store. Ken Hall has released the 2nd pack of MSFS Papua New Guinea bush strips, and it's brilliant! Go to the Community Screenshots section and check ikbenik's thread "My Visit to the Pack2 PNG Highlands Bush Strips" to see what I mean. I've just been flying all of Ken's PNG-pack strips (ten of them), plus the additional bush strips that come with the Orbx Port Moresby airport. It doesn't get any better. Thanks, Ken and Orbx!

My visit to the Pack2 PNG Highland Bush Strips
Rodger Pettichord replied to ikbenik's topic in Community Screenshots
I've been gathering bush strips in PNG, including the Orbx set. Just now getting around to actually flying them. Your pictures have lit the fire! For the next few days, I'm doing nothing but following your lead! Thanks! -
Hi all. I worked my way through college and graduate school by working in an aluminum factory. In the factory, I was part of a group of guys who produced the big carbon blocks used as electrodes in the smelting process. Those guys adopted me, and I loved them dearly. Fifty years later, I still remember them fondly and even have dreams where I'm back on the floor with them again. I suspect that most of us have been part of groups we really enjoyed -- sports, work, military, hobbies, and so forth. And that leads to this week's topic. THIS WEEK'S MEANINGLESS TOPIC: What team(s) have you been part of that meant a lot to you?

Hi all. Just discovered another great flight resource for all sorts of flyers, low-and-slow, explorers, and tube jocks. It's called GlobalAir.com. On it, you can find all the airports, private and commercial, in a given US state. Type Google "List of airports in XXXX" and look for GlobalAit.com. Listing gives ICAO code, nearest town, and runway info. Really handy for us who know name of bush strip but not where it actually is.

One of you guys will eventually get around to Lunar and Martian landing spots. Can't wait! ☺️ -
Orbx is coming out with very nice bush strips for MSFS. It's worth checking them out. I've got all of them and am very pleased.

Nice, Graeme. You know we'll all be rushing over to the flight sim computer to fly this now 😁.

Thanks, Adam. This goes nicely with the new Spielberg/Hanks production, Masters of the Air on Apple+. -
Hi all. Not naming any names, it seems several regulars on this thread know their beers, wines, and spirits. Just in case such a connoisseur gets a chance to travel, let's provide a guide list of local beverages. If you are a teetotaler like me, feel free to recommend a sparkling water or soft drink. THIS WEEK'S MEANINGLESS TOPIC: (A) your country; (B) recommended beer/wine/spirits/soft.

Thanks, Adam. There's a book about the event, well worth reading: "A Higher Call" by Adam Makos. It recounts the true story of a German Luftwaffe fighter pilot, Franz Stigler, who encountered a damaged American B-17 bomber during World War II and chose not to shoot it down, instead escorting it to safety. (PS: the larger print material is provided by ChatGPT)

Got my chart in the mail today. It's everything you said, Kilstorm. It's really nice to be able to locate the bush sites in relation to other places. Thanks very much!

Jean Marc, what a fine flight and what a nice tribute to a tribe that may not survive the century intact. Thank you very much. -
