Orbx
A surprise announcement of a charming new scenery from Rasha Tucakov - Niš Constantine the Great Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator! Following on from the success of his Rijeka International Airport for P3D, Rasha brings us his debut for the new simulator - a complete airport and cityscape product for this historic Balkans destination. As the second busiest airfield in Serbia, Niš Airport serves both LCC and mainline carriers such as Air Serbia, Swiss, Wizz Air and Ryanair. Well known for his specialization in Southeastern European destinations, Rasha brings his attention for unusual details to the fore with this project. As a mixed-use military/civilian airfield, expect to see a swathe of Soviet-era static aircraft including Kamov and Mil helicopters, MiG, Illushin and Antonov aircraft of differing types and sizes. Custom vehicles, GSE, buses and trains are dotted around the airport and city, with the railyards close to the airfield receiving particular attention. Making the most of the new simulator's capabilities, Rasha has implemented new texturing techniques (building on the tech pioneered with Graz and Bryce Canyon) that harness the best balance of high detail and performance. Full PBR materials, LOD optimization, sloped runways, dynamic lighting, complete AI integration and custom terrain edits further build upon the latest MSFS SDK capabilities. Beyond the airport, an entire city has been recreated. Famous as the birthplace of three Roman emperors (including the airport's namesake), and later as a pivotal city of the Byzantine Empire, the city features dozens of custom points of interest and countless details. Explore historic landmarks such as Niš Fortress, modern architecture such as the Hotel Ambassador and tons of incidental models that add a great deal of character to this scenery. Special attention has been spent on the approach to rwy29, with all major POI visible on extended finals recreated. With a beautiful (though complicated) approach over surrounding mountainous terrain, and just a short flight to classic Orbx destinations such as Belgrade, Rijeka, Pula and Dubrovnik, Niš Constantine the Great Airport heralds the first of several exciting new destinations from Rasha Tucakov for Microsoft Flight Simulator! 8
Ste_88
Amazing, a big lack also in P3D world. Should we expect also a version for P3DV5 ? @Rasha Tucakov a true masterpiece, congratulations 2

Rasha Tucakov
Thank you guys. I'm so glad you like it. I was planning to do Nis for long time and all the new features that were presented to us with MSFS2020 SDK gave me a fantastic opportunity to finally make this small but rather interesting airport. The LYNI scenery was done using completely different texturing techniques, specific for FS2020 engine, therefore simple conversion to P3d is impossible. I wouldn't say it won't be done for P3D one day just that it's not a priority at this moment. Let's just give a warm Balkan welcome to our new, awesome looking simulator with this one. Cheers 5
TigerTigerM
I could wax lyrical about this airport's craftsmanship & the screenshots, but I will keep it short - I like them. A must buy But I have a question - Shot #10, the Ryanair aircraft - how do you get the out of focus, (OOF), foreground & background effect? Also, OOF is present in several other shots, & the stunning engine nacelle interior shot. I think it's a drone camera setting but I haven't been able to track it down, so if someone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate that. LYBE is currently under big reconstruction in real life and it will be one of the focus projects as soon as reconstructing ends and airport get some stable form. Be sure I'll continue working on Balkan, Adriatic and East European airports for FS2020 in the future. Cheers.

Nice Tivat is simply fantastic When I bought it I just couldn't understand why it was not made by Orbx before LYPG is nice too I would add to your list LQSA it's a cozy little spot, the surroundings are great with Orbx weather 4 Actually the ancient Yugoslav is an stunning area for flying I would dare to say that Yugoslavia was one of the most beautiful countries in the world. I love the setting of Ljubljana, the look of Zagreb, the mystic of Dubrovnik, the charm of Tivat, the rural look of Sarajevo., the Skopie airport.. I loved all the countries as one but well, we now have a lot of beautiful countries. I think Kosovo is the one yet pending of independence right? There are so many interesting airports in our part of Europe and only 24h in a day. The only thing I can promise is that I'll try to work harder to produce as many god quality addons as I can but lets just work step by step. FS2020 is great new sim platform and it will blossom with new addons in the future for sure. I'm so excited to be part of that. Look Rasha, despite lots of bugs, MSFS is a giant step - a canyon gap -, if comapred to P3D; and since the very first flights, I can't even imagine to get back to any previous sim. Of course I miss a lot my beloved military jets or good civilian liners (PMDG etc, MilViz etc.), but the landscapes, the railways, the roads, the night colours are so absolutely stunning... Thanks for your asnwer, Rasha, & regards, Fuilvio
keino333
I concur....The recreation of these airports in MSFS is just simply awe inspiring and captivating. I only use the other sims when nastagia sets in for the PMDG/majestic. Excellent works here. Just say the magic words and this will be added to my library...for sure

So from a developer's point of view MSFS must be paradise. But not only for developers, it is also paradise for me.

I'm still on P3D v4 and don't intend to switch to MSFS any time soon. +1 FSX like FS9 just refused to die and soldiered on for well over a decade. Now there is XP & P3D that are still in their youth, relatively speaking - but here comes the reincarnation of the FS series. Now I am slowly coming to realization that P3D v4 is going the way of the dodo now. From one point, I get it. As a developer, you don't have to spend time/energy working on photoreal imagery to surround the airports - that is largely built in, from what I gather. Now you can focus on the ground materials and 3d objects. It probably saves big costs for all that imagery as well. I can understand the attraction, I really can. But damn, I am so invested in what I have, that is working. Eventually, I'll make the transition, I am sure, but I hate the realization that my favorite devs are just not that interested in my current sim anymore. Anyway, I'm done griping. Rasha, you are talented dude - love your work.

kevinfirth
Would be an instant buy for P3D.... Have stayed in the Ambassador...not a particularly pleasant experience back in the early 2000's! No screenshots of the skull tower?

Belgrade LYBE will be done with reconstructing in just over 2 years from now, so how about version 1.0 and than an update when it gets new shape. I will be more than willing to buy it as is now. BTW great work on LYNI, bought it on day 1.
