Initially you confused me with the "typo" in your post title, but the interesting link says it all. Great thinking!

 

And then again... the sentence "America happens to possess plenty of islands and territories" is also confusing. What is the logic rationale to have countries "posess" territorries off their own societies and borders?

Hey Gerold , look at England in the past and all of there colonies . I don't understand it either , we have enough problems dealing with our 50 states ......
