Great shots of a venerable aircraft - it's relationship with the DC3 is similar to that of the Spitfire and Hurricane.  They do great things with a C46.  An outfit in Fairbanks, Everts Air, goes into Ophir AK - 1800 ft gravel strip with a load of fuel for the miners at least once a year.

"Make way! Make way! Grandpa is taking the air... Do you copy, Over" ...

PS: I can say nothing more or better than what has already been said over here.

Except no modern bird could have made this beautiful journey... And landing on paradise's grassy runway ;)!

Cheers :D !

A lovely route, and a well suited plane, Bernd. Good to see you slowed her down well for a successful landing.

Many thanks, Gerold, much appreciated.

Awesome shots Bernd!  Martyn loves the C46.

Hahaha, good to know, Jack. I like her too, very stable to fly, although climbing isn't one of her biggest strengths :)

Many thanks, OnD. I didn't know that Everts Air still uses her. Of course Buffalo still does

Splendid set of shots Bernd! :)  Reminds me, I Haven't flown the C-46 for a long time.

Many thanks, Adam. I think we all have quite a few planes in our virtual hangars that sit there and collect dust
