One of my favourite night flights

Once again, I had to re-fly SQ227 services from Singapore to Melbourne. And, to say it upfront, this time I managed to set the time correctly: If you use the sim´s (correct appearing) local time, you´ll be 2 hrs too early, one has to set the departure time according to UTC.

Ready for boarding. As you can see the first screenie is way too dark...

Taxi into position...

... and go. Not much light from the moon either.

Equator crossing, as you can read from the CDU.

Flight planning was easy this time.

ETOPS 60 minutes is sufficient while crossing the Timor sea.

Approaching the 16, with warm morning greetings to all those who live underneath the STAR. Once again, not much to see in the outside view...

... but then comes the overwhelming light of the terminal:

Can you spot the AI traffic plane just behind the squared Pier D building? That is SQ227 (which I was indeed chasing during the whole flight, and it took off in WSSS just a few minutes ahead of me). So it seems I arrived on time, according to the real flight plan. And in fact, the flight arrived in darkness on that particular day.

What a nice welcome!

Sorry for not showing too much Orbx scenery here - that is the trouble with a RL mimic of a night flight...

Wonderful set of one of my favourite RL flights too.

Flew it 3 years ago on 9V-SYL, so much space compared to the TG773.

2 years ago did it in 9V-SKB, love the A380 too. Booked that flight especially so my grandson, who is nuts about planes, could fly on one. Out of the 6 of us only me and him like flying. The rest of them were sat frozen in their seats in fear during t/o and landing.

The only negative about this flight is that in means the end of another fantastic visit to Thailand.

The end of 5 glorious weeks in Thailand. SQ227, 9V-SKB over western Victoria.

I knew you love this route & airline. A perfect view you got on the wings & flaps. And, obviously, you were not flying in Australian autumn/winter, as I can see from the light in your shot.

Excellent idea, you sure fly a lot...for real!

Hmm, you may be right. And I like the RL/sim comparisons, that is why I try to get window seats...

"Taxi into position" (and hold) - dating yourself Gerold.  Even the US is finally doing "Line up and wait".  I admire the effort you put into your flights.

Well, at least in the sim we are just glad to receive any release... Thanks for watching & commenting!
