  1. When Orbx was new and Koorby was king and scenery development was a battlefield!
  2. You can test your own setup by renaming the current community folder to something like XCommunity, creating a new Community folder, and moving EDDT into it. If MSFS runs normally then it is likely to be a conflict with another add-on.
  3. Almost guaranteed there would be all sorts of temp files and the like sitting on your c drive. There's a program called tree size free that let's you quickly get a visual representation of all the folder and subfolder sizes. There are also many programs that can detect unused files and delete them, I used to use one called ccleaner. They allow you to choose categories and files to delete. When space was a problem for me I used to get a lot of room by just locating the temp files for internet Explorer, that folder was usually GBs in size.
  4. Since it sits in the appdata location of your Users folder I'd say it needs to be there for all sorts of reasons. I guess you could research whether you can use some sort of linking program to move it somewhere else and point to it, but my gut feeling is that would cause more problems even if you could do it. Unfortunately some things have to be in the Users folder and that sits in the C Drive and I think you'll have to live with it.
  5. I thought you were supposed to use screenshots for the competition! 😉
  6. My initial reaction to this idea is that under the current sdk for MSFS it's not possible. An airport has to be installed for it to be accessed and once installed I don't know of any way that Orbx could uninstall it remotely. For the purposes of a rtw flight the default airports are surprisingly good, most blend in as they should and most have at least some buildings to give a semblance of reality, unlike the old fsx and p3d airports that were often just a flat bit of tarmac whacked down on to the scenery.
  7. OK there's been movement at the station. But don't hold your breath it's just the preliminary files, but to answer the above questions... yes it is in development as we speak.
  8. Another point that might be relevant, Orbx is mostly still based on the original business model of a collection of independent developers who are mostly responsible for choosing and developing products that they are interested in, using the resources of Orbx shared resources and knowledge base. There are some products that are commissioned but I believe this is still the exception rather than the norm. As a result, development is unlike other companies, and over many years, the roadmap model has caused more trouble than it's worth, despite the best intentions.
  9. Then maybe the solution is to download a free screenshot program that saves to a smaller size automatically. Plenty of options out there.
  10. I always resize screenshots down to 2000 pixels wide or max 3000 for a panorama shot, and set the jpg quality to a Max of 90%, that's all you need to show off even the best shot. Plenty of free resize programs out there if you don't have a graphics program.
  11. With bout 25% of the possible products installed my OC takes about a minute to display content. If it is taking forever it might be a problem with your ISP or somewhere up the line throttling the download for the app, thinking it's a torrent or P2P site. Almost all problems with download speeds from the Orbx servers have been found to be network issues totally outside the control of Orbx. But it's probably worth a ticket just to check.
  12. That's how long it took them to code the Comanche for MSFS. Future releases will no doubt be a shorter development time but each one probably takes months of work.
  13. I'm not aware of anything in the pipeline, in the meantime there's a freeware version at flightsim.to that looks like a good rendition.
  14. I've been informed that as yet nothing has been received from Blackbird. You could give them a prod perhaps?
  15. I'll alert the team, they recently had a staff changeover so although unlikely, it's possible something was missed. Equally it could be that Blackbird may have not have thought to send out the update files to their distributors.
  16. The other day I bought some garden items from my local Mitre 10. Happened to be in Bunnings a couple of days later and sure enough, I could have saved about 30% if I had bought from Bunnings. But what I had bought was fair products at a fair price. I certainly didn't think I could ask Mitre 10 to refund the difference.
  17. I guess if you wanted to test, you could grab those three files and move them to another folder as a temporary change, start P3D and OK the missing files warnings and see if it makes much difference. If it does and you want to have the option to untick them, then you would need to change them from the library location to the P3D scenery location. I think that would work anyway.
  18. A good way to practise is to do a 'carrier approach'. Set up a descent profile that approaches the pad at a flattish angle, similar to a runway approach, and reduce speed by raising the nose and reducing the 'power' and flying into the pad without trying to actually hover before settling down. As you get more approaches you can balance the approach speed more precisely to land at just a few knots, then at zero knots. Just like the one foot rule in golf, I allow a couple of metres of slide after touchdown as a successful landing. Better that than copping a ground effect rise and the dreaded backwards momentum.
  19. This has been raised many times and the answer has been that there are reasons why non active products are still shown in Orbx Central, but I'm not privy to the details. But no harm in asking I guess.
  20. Depends entirely on how and when the files are provided to Orbx, and then staff resources to configure an update to Orbx Central. I seem to remember that the last two days were the weekend which would also affect the roll-out.
  21. Looks like a problem with graphics not loading on your pc. I doubt it's a problem with the scenery. It might be memory issues, in which case, restarting the pc and only loading MSFS will ensure that you have maximum resources available to the sim.
  22. Choppers are fine in VR, the difference between the 3D depth in VR and the flat 2D screen is chalk and cheese.
  23. I won't engage in a debate here but I will say that verse is something that, as a rational thinker, I like very much.
  24. The files for testing are for XP12, which is good news. I would assume that the release version would coincide with an update to OC to add XP12 functionality, but if not then I think you can rest assured it's being worked on. As with any software though, beware of the unexpected glitches that can derail even the most basic-looking tasks.
