VH-KDK Posted July 18, 2013 Share Posted July 18, 2013 Horatio did a set over Vancouver Island earlier which prompted comments about the lack of screenies from the area. I did a flight from Campbell River to Bellingham a while ago which I had in reserve, so this seems a good time to share. 1. Warming up the Convair 240 at Campbell River Airport. But all is not well here. 2. As you can see, big problems with the scenery. Happily I was able to fix it, finding the solution in the Misty Moorings site. Now if only I could get their beautiful boats to appear.....oh not here but in Alaska. 3. Climbing away with the sunrise, as it always is, in the east. 4. Constitution Hill and Mount Washington. 5. Courtney comes into view with the Puntledge River. 6. Comox Lake and the Puntledge River again. 7. Fanny Bay, Denman Island and Baynes Sound. A better sound is made by the P&W radials purring away. 8. Illuminated by the early morning sun with Horne Lake in the background. 9. Mount Wesley and Mount Honne. 10. Cameron Lake. 11. The very nostalgic office in the Cv 240. 12. Looks Okay to me. Well it is Okay Mountain. 13. Nanaimo Lakes. Mount Decosmos is centre and Mount Hooker left. 14. Blackjack Ridge with the town of Nanaimo. 15. Plenty in this shot. The town of Cassidy, Gabriola Island, Dodd Narrows and Harmac. At the moment Google Earth, which I use for identifying locations, is not working on my com. I am going by my notes from many weeks ago when I did this flight so some of the spelling may be wrong. What a wonderful looking area to explore, but goodness only knows when as there are so many other areas to look at. I will put part 2 up over the week end. Hope you enjoy.
