This Week's Meaningless Topic (#143)(June 2)

Recommended Posts

Hi all. One of the factors that attracts us to airplanes is that they can be very beautiful. Many a youngster first caught the flight bug by seeing a stunning picture of a plane or watching an aircraft gracefully soar overhead. And it's that aerial beauty which leads to this week's topic.

THIS WEEK'S MEANINGLESS TOPIC:  To you, which planes qualify for the following awards?

1. Most beautiful cargo plane.

2. Most beautiful prop airliner.

3. Most beautiful jet airliner.

4. Most beautiful general aviation single-engine plane.

5. Most beautiful general aviation twin-engine plane.

6. Most beautiful flying boat.

7. Most beautiful amphibian plane.

1. Not sure, no opinion now.

2.  Lockheed Constellation/Super Constellation.  Though the DC 7 is strong competition.

3.  Maybe the B727.  Seeing them soar overhead taking off from KJFK they looked like ships bound for the moon. Straight out of Buck Rogers.

4.  Even with its weird backwards tail, the Mooney M20 series.

5.  No strong opinion, but I'll go for the Cessna 310

6.  Real strong opinion on this one:  Boeing 314 "Clipper."  A flying ocean liner.

7.  Not sure, here.  I like Gumby's suggestion.
