Islands in the sun

Recommended Posts

This is going to be just a short flight, I had to use the occasion that I could spend some virtual days at these remote islands. And some more exceptions to my usual posts: We´ll see some photos from a picture book of my library. And I get you the orientation right at the beginning of this post:

We take off from NTAA Tahiti, ...

... make a short hop over the sea to Moorea, ...

... and have to climb quite a lot to cross Mt. Tohiva.

Directly after we can descend to the north coast of Moorea.

For comparison the same descend taken from Matevz Lenarcic in his book "Wasserwelten" (don´t know how the title is in Slovenik or English). A fantastic inspiration for us pilots, and a great book to read, btw.

Heading back to Tahiti with Temae airport behind.

An approach over the north coast of Tahiti already gives a hint of the sharp mountains, ...

... which look even sharper when you cross the island.

On final back into NTAA we cross some bigger settlements, namely Mahina and Papeete.

And here we are back again on the international airport of Faa.

Adventurous and tropical images Gerold! Nicely done here, mixing in some real shots (from your book) along with you great looking screenshots :) The journey continues :D

Grand shots Gerold,I am always amazed by how good your P3d looks.

Thank you John. I still enjoy it, and - though I am conviced that the looks of MSFS are more impressive - I like to have it easy: Just fire it up & fly, I can forget about updates currently.

Thank you Landon. I know you follow my journey, and I was lucky on this leg with some inspiration by real photos.

Very nice looking trip, Gerold, so relaxing! I used to have for P3D a payware scenery, which made those islands look even better.

Interesting info, Bernd... I am not looking out for P3D payware any more, as it would be an investment on a dead end (if one can say so).

Great combination of real and FS Gerold! :)

My pleasure, Adam. It makes even reading a book more intense.

nice combination of shots....I am though confused about Dolly Parton?

Thanks Wayne. The explanation for Dolly would best be given by John @BradB.

As you know Gerold we are an Island State down here from the Mainland but there is no sun shine down here for the time being. I hate this time of year, give me Summer.:(

cheers

Gumby

Late autumn is not the nicest part of the year in our latitudes. But: We are used to have seasons, some to enjoy more, some less. I could not do without.

Gerold --- your next visit down under - could be on something like this:)

The Whitsundays are also famous for it's Yacht/Boat hire fleet

I hired this one -a Hunter 42 footer- for 2 holidays before I bought my own for my odyssey in 2006/7/8

You are on your way to become a tourism ambassador for the Whitsundays, John. Though, besides the problem that I have no sailing license, I would like to use my next Australia visit for a more intense Tasmania tour. Which limits the season a bit...
