The Vulcan was one of the many types of military planes I can remember seeing on my visits to Grimsby in the early 70s. 2. Departing Scampton with Welton by the nose of the plane. 3. Over the Humber Estuary with Grimsby and Cleethorpes behind the Vulcan. 4. Down the Humber is Hull. 5. By the wing is Filey with Scarborough ahead. 6. Heading west now and the North Yorkshire Moors. 7. The City of York. Above the plane is EGYK Elvington and below is UK11 Rufforth. 8. Over Doncaster and EGCN. 9. Not far and we are back at Lincoln with its beautiful cathedral. 10. On eggshells as Scampton is approached, XP is very unforgiving when lowering things at too high a speed! 11. It just didn't want to land and I floated down half of the runway and ended up rally driving the Vulcan in the Lincolnshire fields! To me this is the futuristic looking plane for the U.K. and the SR-71 is to the U.S. Both never seem to get old and look like something from 100 years from now.
