East Sale Airbase is where the RAAF's Roulette aerobatic team are based.

One of their PC-9 aircraft is going to do an early morning flight from YMES.

Awesome pics, with great atmosphere and lighting.

I love the PC-9 and I love the Roulettes, I have seen them a few times now at the Avalon Airshow.  They are so precise, and I am constantly amazed at their abilities.  Even after they landed the first time I saw them, they shut down their engines in complete sync, with the props rotating in seemingly perfect unity until they slowed and stopped, with each prop stopping in the same position.  Amazing!

One day, when I was living in Pascoe Vale, near Essendon Airport, I was on my PC flight simming and I heard the unmistakeable drone of the PC-9 engines winding up. When I jumped up and ran outside to have a look I just saw the end of a group of Roulette PC-9's doing a full 360 loop in single file above Essendon airport (or thereabouts).  They then separated and flew their downwind and base legs one after the other and landed at Essendon.  It was just a quick out of the blue performance for the locals!

Really spectacular screenshots.

Cheers,

Very nice shots KDK, although you could have kept the last shot

secret and claim to have been leading the pack.

cheers Gumby

Thanks Gumby. Would have done but 052 wasn't at Echuca that day.

A killer set Martyn, the PC-9 is a nice bird.  Very similar to the T-6C which I have.

Thanks Sammy, it is a great plane to fly.

Wonderful story Scott. It is a great sight to see their landing routine. Seen them many times at air shows and on several occasions when living in Mildura.

Cheers Brad. I play roulette every day when I get in my car to drive the 35km to work. I cannot believe some of the lunatics out on the road.
