Rodger Pettichord
Hi all. The internet has its downside--the dysfunctional social media, the dark web, and so forth. But it also has many positives. I love being able to access information instantaneously, My wife and I use Amazon happily. I Google a lot, treasure Wikipedia, use YouTube to travel the world, and deeply value the Orbx Forum. And that bring up this week's topic. THIS WEEK'S MEANINGLESS TOPIC: What do you like about the internet? 3
Ken Q
Rodger's list says most of it. I don't use Google more than I have to, Bing is my search engine of choice. The rest I use regularly. I like YouTube to watch aviation videos; I learn a lot from Aviation101, and other channels. The other thing is paying bills on line, especially now that postal rates are extortionate, and scammers are stealing and altering checks. gumbypickett
I use Google or Internet Explorer for all sorts of stuff. It's very handy for when the grey matter starts to fade. I'm not into social media except for emails. Google Earth is pretty cool for looking into peoples backyards and youtube I enjoy for looking up old tv shows or movies and cockpit view videos. cheers Gumby 1 1
boetie
It's so simple to provide my bank details instantly to various organisations that have discovered I am the beneficiary of larges sums of money. 3

W2DR
It provides so many opportunities for sharing with others. Here's one example: DEAR NEIGHBOR: Hi, Fred, this is Richard, next door. I’ve got a confession to make. I’ve been riddled with guilt for a few months and have been trying to get up the courage to tell you face-to-face. At least I’m telling you in this e-mail. I can’t live with myself a minute longer without your knowing about this. The truth is that, when you’re not around, I’ve been sharing your wife, day and night. In fact, probably much more than you. I haven’t been getting it at home recently, and I know that that’s no excuse. The temptation was just too great. I can’t live with the guilt and hope you’ll accept my sincere apology and forgive me. Please suggest a fee for usage, and I’ll pay you. Regards, Richard. NEIGHBOR’S RESPONSE: Fred, feeling very angry and betrayed, grabbed his gun, went next door, and shot Richard, killing him. He went back home, shot his wife, poured himself a stiff drink and sat down on the sofa. Fred then looked at his computer again and discovered a second e-mail from Richard. 2ND E-MAIL: Hi, Fred. Richard here again. Sorry about the typo on my last email. I expect you figured it out and noticed that the darned Auto-Correct had changed “wi-fi” to “wife.” Technology, huh? It’ll be the death of us all. 4

Never forget all these relatives in Nigeria you had never known about before the internet was there. So sad they all pass away before their lawyers notify us. 3
wain71
I find it's handy for finding out stuff when you're in a place you've never been to and maybe need to eat or find a garage etc.....there's so much stuff out there you can waste a few hours without realising it just looking at nothing really.....some do become obsessed with the internet and do believe everything they read, so glad I don't do any socials except here if this counts.....internet truly baffles my mum though, she also has the oldest mobile phone in the world I reckon....
Ken Q
Let's not forget how much running our Sims rely on the internet. In any SIM if we use Active Sky or PilotEdge we are simultaneously using the internet. I understand the same is true of some scenery and features of MSFS. Following Wayne's comment, I like to look up info on places I land, not in the R/W, but in the Sim. Ken 1
John York
I use it to keep in touch via email and to order stuff, mainly books for my Paperwhite from Amazon, and to check on what's happening on Mars! 1
paulb
I use it for - mail, instruction manuals when I have mislaid the paper copy, an up to date atlas/google maps, forums like this one, MSFS and similar, buying and downloading software and audio books, finding out in great detail an illness that I did not know that I had, researching and comparing items that I might purchase. 1
