German National Parks: Part 1

Currently there are 16 national parks in Germany. They are miniscule in comparism to those of the U.S. but this only natural considering that you could fit Germany 26 times into the territory made up by the U.S.

The other reason preventing them from expanding is the high density of settlements. There is simply not enough space left for them.

The Müritz Nationalpark for example is divided into two parts by the town of Neustrelitz.

I thought I'd fly to all of them in the next days and post how they look like in FTX GEN and GES as soon as it is released.

Let's start from north to south and east to west:

First up:

Jasmund National Park

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jasmund_National_Park

Just 30 sq KM's in extension it is the smallest of all of 16. You can basically see all of it in the shot below. It extends as far as the border of the forrest

Next is Lower Oder Valley National Park

You can see here how narrow the extension of the actual park is. It is basicaly just between the two arms of the river and directly on it's border you have industrial areas near Schwedt.

Next:

Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park

9GeO

Again the borders of the actual park exclude all settlements in the area. It is still the 3rd largest of the 16.

And finally for this first part:

Müritz National Park

As far as I understand this lake district with a mixture of countless lakes and primeval forrests is the main attraction of Mecklenburg Vorpommern and the reason why it is the federal state with the lowest population.

Hope you enjoyed those. More to come in the future.

Absolutely a great idea -- I love these!  Great ideas for places to fly and explore later.

Just as a suggestion (although I love the autumn shots) you might mix in some other seasons in there on your next park visits.  Just for fun.

Thank's for all the nice comments.

I have already compiled some shots for the next part.

However I'm not satisfied yet, since it's quite difficult to make convincing shots of the three parks that cover the entirety of the german north-sea coast. During high tide there is not much to see there. And there is only one other park fully covered in the FTX GEN area. I'm just waiting on better weather to fly there and collect some shots to diversify the next topic.

;)
