  1. The image is going into Melbourne. The flight started at Sidney. Brisbane and Melbourne are both great but you want to go into YMML instead of YMMB. Also, I bought the New Zeeland scenery since it is on sale and I am on the way there from Brisbane, even as we type.
  2. Jack, I didn't see what looks like house on the road. Must be your new eyes. Its the perspective of the shot that makes the houses look stretched out. If you were looking straight down they would all be rectangles and squares.
  3. I lowered the landing gear after it came to a stop and I figured out what happened. It just rose up on the gear and I taxied on in.
  4. Here we are about 5 miles out of YMMB There is no ILS approach and I was quite off line. Took a lot of quick adjustment to get lined up but I managed not too bad a landing except that It turns out that you don't need reverse thrust if you forget to lower the landing gear. YMML would have been a better choice.
  5. Clarity and colors especially are the most impressive change you will see. the cataracts grow slowly so you don't see much day to day change in colors or clarity as your vision slowly gets worse. Then when you have the surgery everything improves all at once. The effect is beyond dramatic. Jack, I had the surgery in both eyes, one about two weeks after the other. That was 14 years ago. I'm 78 now. We had a cold spell in Southern Oregon about two weeks ago. Temps below freezing with the result that in the last few days fall colors have just exploded, its the most dramatic range and depth of fall colors I believe I have ever seen. I still have days when colors just knock my socks off. So things will get better for you from here on out.
  6. Glad it went well! People understandably get nervous about cataract surgery, but by the time it is needed the results are well worth it.
  7. Here we are on approach to Brisbane YBBN. I flew out to Sidney the next day and never got any closer to the city center.
  8. Flying into Brisbane I was occasionally dropping into the teens. So flying out I dialed autogen buildings back to high and traffic back to 50% and flew out at a smooth 20 fps.
  9. I would very much like to see Charleston for P3D5.2
  10. Hard to say what's normal nowadays.
  11. In my case my right eye has always been a little weaker than my left eye But as for cataracts they were both about the same. The surgery was an interesting experience. They put something in your eye so that its fixed in place and then they use ultra sound to break up the old lens and suck it out through a narrow slit in the cornea. then the new lens is inserted folded over though the slit and springs open once in the lens capsule. after the surgery you wear an eye patch for a few days while things heal. That's about it. In my case, I was completely conscious during the whole procedure which I think is the usual way its done. During the surgery what you see in the eye that is being worked on is similar to what you see on a tv screen when there is no broadcast going on. In my case, being who I am I narrated what I was feeling and seeing during the whole procedure. My surgeon finally had to tell me to be quite so I shut up. My recollection is that I had to be at the hospital by 6 am, the procedure was at 8, and I was back home before noon Also in my case about five or six years latter I had problems with the capsule that contains the lens clouding over a bit. That happens in some cases, but there is an even quicker outpatient laser procedure to correct that. Takes about 30 seconds, and of course a bit of paperwork. If anyone knows any of the above to be incorrect p[lease respond. After all this was 14 years ago. Also regarding Windows 11. By the time you may or may not need Win 11 for MSFS There will be even faster processors than what's available now that are Win 11 compliant and they will no longer be top of the line so that will be relatively cheap. Just slip one in if need be when the time comes. Its my understanding that some motherboards may not be Win 11 compliant so that might be a bigger problem on some systems. Of course there will eventually be Win 12 and so on and so on.
  12. I had cataract surgery in both eyes about 14 years ago, one eye then the other a few weeks later. To vividly see colors again brought tears to my eyes. I still have a bit of astigmatism but my vison with glasses is near 20/20. The surgery was painless. It took longer to do the paperwork that it did to do the actual surgery. Piece 'o cake. I wouldn't worry about Win 11. I ran FSX with a 10 year old computer until upgrading this year to P3d and Win 10 and a new computer. We live on a planet with places of breathtaking beauty. You can see excellent simulations of that beauty in FSX, P3D, X Plane and MSFS.
  13. The main difference is in the wave action and in the lighting which in the camera image is more towards the yellow hue and less saturated. Nice comparison.
  14. Holy Cow! Socked in. On Approach with some Traffic. Where's the Field? No Sweat! Getting Close. Almost There. Touchdown! One of my better landings. Taxiing in. Had to stop momentarily. Ramp was slippery. Didn't want to slide into the gas truck. Shutdown. Not a bad flight. Piece o' cake.
  15. I fly the Shorts a lot because the cockpit is mostly steam gauges. Its not a particularly good airplane for the Rocky Mountain regions because its not pressurized. So flying it out west is a challenge if you have passenger on board. If possible, I set up a GPS route that goes around the higher mountains so I can stay below 10,000 feet. The result is that you are flying down in the scenery. Much more interesting. Actually however, the Shorts is much better suited for the east coast and England where you can more easily stay below 10,000 feet. The Carenado version looks good and works pretty good, but has a few problems. Also, I went into the config file and uprated the engines to the advanced version so now its a bit faster. If there were a MSFS version I would get it when I finally go into MSFS. I think I will send an Email to Carenado to get on it. Imagine flying the Shorts through some nice MSFS Rocky Mountains where you can look up at the mountain tops as you fly along. Did I mention the Shorts cockpit has cup holders?
  16. This is a a direct GPS flight from Vancouver to Kelowana. We are about a half hour east of Vancouver at 10,000 feet.
  17. This is a flight in the trusty Shorts 360 from Port Hardy, CYZT, to Vancouver, CYVR.
  18. The vegetation changes colors with the seasons in TE, Orbx regions, and P3D native regions. It looks pretty good, in my opinion in all three except in winter in TE regions when the trees are white but the ground does not change colors. One of the things I do to improve the appearance in all three is change the display hue a bit to the green in spring and summer and a bit to brown in fall and winter.
  19. Very nice. Very nicely captures the look of snow.
  20. Actually, TE does an OK job of simulated spring, summer, and fall because the vegetation, trees and so forth, change colors. You can see that in some of the images I have posted. What TE doesn't display is winter ground textures in other words, snow and ice. However, if you have the Orbx regions you can get all the seasons including areas where there is native P3D scenery. So if I want snow and ice I can fly in the regions or native P3D areas. I have not invested in MSFS yet so I don't know how it handles seasons.
  21. So now you can pick up addons for P3D at sale prices.
