VH-KDK Posted August 10, 2014 Share Posted August 10, 2014 I saw Jankees post Piper in Oz this morning and it seemed familiar to me. VH-CWJ lives at Boort which is in Central Victoria. A fly in was held there every May but after some big storms the airfield was damaged and I don't think the event has been held there since. I used to visit every year but I have been unable to do the event rounds the last few years. There were usually about 50 aircraft at the fly in and some flyers camped overnight to attend the BBQ. One couple even brought bicyles in their plane along with their camping equipment. It was a very friendly event with most of the pilots stopping for a chat as I went round taking photos. Planes ranged from Trikes and Drifters to Barons, Navajos and even an AT-6 which was a spectacular sight at dusk spitting flames from the exhausts. In this set CWJ flies the short distance from Wycheproof to Boort and lands where the airport should be. 1. 2. 3. 4. Easy to find where the airport is thanks to the grain silos and also the Silo-Woolshed Road with the railway is depicted. 5. Boort town and the Boort Lakes. 6. Aiming for the field to the right of the silos. 7. Almost there. 8. A little to the right of the runway in RL which is on the top of the hill. It is not a very level airport. 9. 10. VH-CWJ in real life in 2008. It is parked in the same place as shot 9. 11. 2010 and VH-CWJ in action. Many thanks to Jankees for your great repaints.
