Music thread

I was thinking maybe I can start a thread where everyone can post their favourite music and maybe say something about it.

This is a live performance by Queen in 1981, by far the best i've seen. Everything timed perfectly and Mercury has got a super voice

unfortunately for those that don't know Freddie Mercury died of Aids in 1991 at only 45, such a shame, if only they had cures back then.

I hope other can post theirs :)

Nice thread! I always find the best music from hearing others'.

My kid was listening to Flo Rida, actually a pretty good artist. But one of his singers, SIA was amazing. I found this song, 'Breathe', just a superb live performance. Cute Cellist too. She OWNS that cello.

Widely considered to have the best voice ever, this one from Roy Orbison is backed up instrumentally by a number of famous artists in their own rights... See if you can identify them.

Sarah Brightman has a fantastic voice, well displayed in this classic piece

U2's Miss Sarajevo is a powerful song too, but the video clip is even more powerful. Set against the Sarajevo conflict, a beauty pageant was held while war raged outside... Read the banner the contestants are holding... enough said.

The greatest and most underrated band of all time.....RUSH

Here they are trying to play their own song on the video game Rock Band on the Colbert Report and fail LOL

Now we are talking!!

How these guys do it, and only three of them amazes me.. and the fact they have been going for nearly four decades and sound better than ever.

Their new album 'Clockwork Angels' is testement to that!

This one was revealed to me by Alexander Ther who posts amazing videos. I had never heard the song but knew the band (Crosby Stills & Nash - Stephen Stills performs this one). Being a crap guitarist myself, I this just couldn't get enough of this performance..and it's about flying. It talks about the Vietnam war vet pilots who learnt their skills in Nam and adapted their skills to drug running for fast cash in the Americas

I've always been quite big on older folk rock which of course is characterized by the biggest folk duo of all time, Simon and Garfunkel. A few weeks ago I got Paul Simon's second album after the duo split up and took a liking to a few of the songs:

Right on Alex you have excellent taste in music, Paul Simon is one of my favorites.

Ive been a big fan of Hawkwind since the early 90's

I find this track so easy to relax to its a joy to listen to it and i would say its way ahead of its time even though it came out in 75 ( i was 1 then )

This would have to be one of the greatest Hawkwind tracks ever, this is not the original version but one done with Matthew Wright a big Hawkwind fan and a journalist/TV presenter

Between Hawkwind and Pink Floyd they have produced some of the best music of all time imo, there is others i could add as well but they stand out the most.

But being a fan of Aussie music, now more than ever because I don't hear it every day on the radio, this is one of my favourite locals..

Hee, what a great thread. If asked this question ten years ago I would have been able to answer it in a heartbeat.. so, I guess a few really, but for me, Chris Rea, Dire Straits, Eva Cassidy, James Taylor, Pink Floyd, Queen and of course.. Frank Sinatra... but I also like some of the new artists, although I can't think of any at the moment! Here are a few of my faves...

I absolutely love flying CRM listening to Jayke Orvis and the Broken Band. This was recorded at a festival put on at West Yellowstone Montana by their record label, Farmageddon Records. Kind of bluegrass filtered through Punk Rock; WARNING; there are a couple of instances of "Explicit language", so if you find that offensive, pass it by please.

Here's a video Wolf2grey made of some shots he took during the sessions where this was recorded in his home studio...well, all over his home really! That's my co-pilot on the drums...part of the reason we're both half deaf LOL!
