Welcome to Sacramento Airport, California!

This is the latest release for Microsoft Flight Simulator from Orbx Indie developer Matteo Veneziani.

Originally established in late 1967, the airport serves the Sacramento area, acting as a vital gateway to popular attractions like Yosemite National Park and Lake Tahoe. KSMF is primarily serviced by Southwest Airlines, which operates numerous flights to destinations such as Burbank, Phoenix Sky-Harbor , and Santa Barbara. Other major airlines including American Airlines, Delta, United, and Alaska Airlines contribute to the overall airline presence at KSMF.

Over 12 million passengers went through the two terminals at KSMF in 2022 and the current airport Master Plan is looking to expand KSMF with more gates or an additional new terminal.

This package has been created with great care and attention to detail for all simmers to enjoy. It also includes:

  • Detailed ground markings and textures
  • Animated jetways with sounds
  • Dynamic airport lighting
  • Custom airport clutter, GSE and taxiway signs
  • Animated train
  • Basic terminal interiors
  • Orthoimagery of the airport area

Very nice and looks highly detailed, good job!

@Matteo Veneziani weren't you going to create something for Brazil? I had the impression you had proposed something... It is yet a plan or not?

Cheers

Carlos

Better than the competitor work but sorry

To me, there is not life in this airport, and all brown-ish. Why ?

It does not reflect the fantastic colorful glasswall modern façade of the main terminal neither

Hi Dom,

I do not understand what you are saying. The scenery reflects the real life in every aspect also in the colour of the facade.

Cheers

The terminal and surrounding areas look amazing, well done. The static aircraft parking, at least what is seen in those photos, however, do not represent real world ops. It's my home airport (I'm there 3-5 times a month for the past 12 years).

1.) Southwest is 100% based out of Terminal B. One of the photos show Southwest planes at A2 & A4.

2.) Another photo shows a Southwest at A11 and an Alaska aircraft at A1. Alaska only operates out of Terminal B. They codeshare a lot of their traffic with American so Flight Aware will show ASAxxxx flights out of Terminal A but they're usually A319s (PHX is the most common destination) or Skywest United Express planes to/from LAX.

3.) Another photo shows a Southwest aircraft at A16, in reality that A16 gate is actually A16. The gate numbering at Terminal A is goofy. Reference from the county's official website for Terminal A Gates - https://sacramento.aero/smf/about/maps#intmap_panel_terminala

4.) The shot of terminal B showing an Air Canada CRJ at B12 is incorrect. Air Canada is exclusively out of Terminal A. The Air Canada CRJ that does visit us operates exclusively out of A13.

5.) The close up photo of B23 shows an Alaska on B19 and a Delta on B15. Those south side gates are 100% Southwest.

6.) The photo of the south-east Terminal B gates (B11, 9, 7 & 5) have no Southwest presence. The B11 gate is exclusively Spirit and Spirit's only gate. I've seen a Spirit at B9 once and when I asked about it, it was because the jetway was under repair (B11).

Those were the obvious ones, I'm headed there on Friday and I can check in with airport operations regarding other gate assignments if need be.

I think there are no statics included. This would be FSLTL generated traffic, and there's no way to specify airlines, only the size category of the aircraft.

In testing, with no traffic active in the sim, all gates are empty.

Yes one can specify airline codes, at least plenty other devs have done it. I'm surprised to read you say it's not possible? Can you elaborate on why this wouldn't work at KSMF?

Hi,

Yes the final version will have the correct airlines codes.

The adding of codes to gates is not documented in the SDK and all developers are relying on the technique used for FSX/P3D. So it’s not a guarantee it will all work 100%.

Regardless, Matteo has assigned the codes to the two terminals now.
