Lawnmower service, part 1: Jacksons to Tapini

Stillwater

Recommended Posts

An emergency call reached the mower mechanics at Port Moresby: One of the runways of the nearby airstrips required grass cutting, but the mower was broken. Unfortunately the sat phone connection was bad, so he couldn´t precisely say which airport we needed to go. Immediately we took off at Jackson´s...

... and left the big city behind.

An ocean of green wilderness.

Soon we found the first airstrip, Ononge. Clearly to see...

... better?

Touchdown, uphill.

And just next to the tower we found the mower. Intact. So we needed to go on.

We used the chance to offer these passengers a lift.

And soon we went, overlooking the entire Ononge scenery.

Next airport: Fane.

"Let´s see how long this grass is!"

Indeed maintenance work was needed here. And soon after the runway was well cut again. We could have gone home now, but one of the passengers held a strong argument for a detour...

... out of Fane...

... and into the valley towards Tapini.

Which was the place for a well earned rest. Hopefully with a beer aside the chicken curry...

That's a great flight Gerold! Thanks for sharing mate. Once again you've inspired a few flights.

Cheers

Thanks a lot, Graeme. The flight map will follow with the upcoming leg.

I've always enjoyed those PNG airstrips. Thank you for this trip down memory lane Gerold.

I deleted my P3Dv4 today, completely with all add-ons because I haven't opened the sim for a year now.

Sometimes it did hurt to see those scenery, airfields and airplanes go but I moved on and they took a lot of SSD space.

Thank you for the compliments, Ben.

I can understand your action ("haven't opened the sim for a year now"), and I can also understand the hurt to delete add-ons that one has loved when using them. I hope they come back to MSFS within the next years (and I still wait for a bigger number of them to be transformed).

Great screenies, Gerold. PNG is always a special treat. I had hoped that Ken and Tim would transfer their P3D PNG scenery eventually to MSFS, but so far they haven't. On the other hand, we have now over 70 airstrips as free add-ons in Papua (both PNG and Indonesia) to fly into :)

Danke Bernd! Good to read there is a lot of MSFS freeware (as a good beginning). Nevertheless I am sure that a package like AYPY and TAP would add a lot to any simulator platform...
