NZRU, Waiouru Airfield

Recommended Posts

Took Ant's Tiger Moth Pro out of Wellington up to the North Island's Central Plateau.

Found the airfield, NZRU, (Waiouru), attached to the army base of the same name.

Flew over Mt Ruapehu, which is an active volcano, & landed at NZRU.

South West of Mt Ruapehu, (on the horizon)

Directly over Mt Ruapehu.

Leaving the mountain. Mount Ngauruhoe is closest to the aircraft, then Mt Tongariro, & in the distance, Lake Taupo.

Best way to find the airfield, leaning out the side.

Safely down. Mt Ruapehu in the background.

Get hold of an atlas & look up New Zealand.

Australia is basically a dust bowl with citizens clinging to  life on the coastal edges. Its not this green:)

My mistake, I new it was New Zealand but had been thinking about Australia before I looked at your post.

I have been of this opinion for some time, in fact ALL the greens I fly over are way too vivid..(even Ireland in not this bright green) but not being "of a technical bent" I have no clue as to how to "Dull down" the bright green. Terry.

I thought you were taking the p-ss:)

Have a look at Alice Springs. Most of OZ is like that other than a 10 mile strip inland from the coast line:)
