He said at low level the Mustang ran rings around them but up high things were better. Later that same P51 was summer rented by BLM in Alaska from its new owner, Red Dodge a legend captain with Western. It was used for long range forest fire patrol and often stopped at McGrath - we had three former P51 jocks living there so lots of hand flying.
