these are all shots of the first version of the P-51D, the P-51D-5 model, which has the small tail. When pilots discovered this version has less directional stability than the B model, a fillet was added to the tail, to enlarge the tail. Spot the difference between the two:

Both are D-5's, but one has the fillet added, all beautifully modelled by warbirdsim. The D-5 is also recognizable by their tail number, which will always start with 413
