Along Lake Wakatipu

I like the De Havilland Rapide and this flight is from Queenstown to Glenorchy along Lake Wakatipu.

Some beautiful clear weather after my last flight in the North Island.

2.qg2.jpg

Where the Kawarau River is joined by the Shotover at Lower Shotover.

3.qg3.jpg

No shortage of yellow paint on the apron.

4.qg4.jpg

Flying up the Frankton Arm.

5.qg5.jpg

NZ153 at Mount Creighton

6.qg6.jpg

NZGY and Blanket Bay Lodge.

7.qg7.jpg

Glenorchy and the Rees River

8.qg8.jpg

Looping around Glenorchy with Glenorchy Lagoon. On the right is the Dart River.

9.qg9.jpg

Coming into land with Pigeon Island in the distance.

10.qg10.jpg

Plenty of sheep next to the airport and other fine detail.

A very short but enjoyable flight.

No shortage of yellow paint on the apron...... That's what happens when you got a guy named Sawyer as a ramper . ;):D BTW Martyn these shots of course are your usual quality .

Cheers

John

Well that explains it John, lucky that they have not been working on one of the mega airports!

Oh dear! Shots of the usual quality and there was me thinking they were quite good.:o:lol:

Great scenery around. Plus I like to see some good weather ahead!

Lots of yellow color on the ground, but no yellow plane. Let us see if someone can change this pity.

Thanks Gerold, New Zealand has really turned on some good weather for me.:)

I don't think I have a yellow Rapide installed at the moment.:(

Well done Martyn, another nice tour.

And if I was the ramper in charge, the runways would be yellow!  :P  Just think how far away you could see them! :)

Thank you Jack, yellow sounds great and if you did the markings in blue they would look perfect.:P
