For sure with the (only) appropriate plane, being loaded full with candy and coal in Hanover...

From there is is just a short VFR hop to Berlin, you don´t need any navaids here despite the buildings...

... to reach Tempelhof. Meanwhile closed, but still iconic. My mother and grandparents lived close to the airport during 1948/49, when thousands of trusty heroes supplied Berlin  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin_Blockade#The_start_of_the_Berlin_Airlift . They knew / know the sound of the C-47 much better than I.

Excellent set of shots Gerold.

What an incredible job was done with the Berlin Airlift, seen several programmes about it over the years and it still amazes me.

I like the music too.

Funny that even I don't understand a word, it still sounds great!

As long as the wifey is okay with it Gerold , by all means visit your "old" flame in Berlin .

Cheers

John

It seems you understand the German lyrics, John. In this case wifey is okay with the flame.

The airlift was so important for our history.

Regarding the lyrics: See a (bad) translation here http://lyricstranslate.com/en/ich-hab-noch-einen-koffer-berlin-i-still-have-suitcase-berlin.html . I like the Knef version of the song even more than the original from Marlene, both could sing it from their hearts, as they had made their story with their home country.

What a terrific tour Gerold!  I loved every shot.

Thank you, my friends. And thanks to the scenery designers, quite a challenge here compared to less populated regions.

Verry nice shots Gerold, few weeks before I take my suitcase ready for Cape Verde Islands, hope you're the captain Gerold!

I would like to, the Cape verdes sound like a very well suited destination for this time of the year...

But I have to work in GEN currently, in all meanings.
