Here we go, open_LC!

Finally, after a long way of downloading, installing, correcting, I am set for this long awaited flight. Long awaited, as the RL pics are prepared since months. I could make use of some pictures at KLAX taken earlier (with more cloudy weather, as in reality), and the complete flight in OLC at more sunny conditions.

Taxiing at KLAX...

... queuing ...

ATC assigns the 25R, whereas in RL we got the 25L.

The Imperial Dunes from FL390 - not as impressive as from lower levels.

Tucson. Even with OLC the sights get less impressive here (the boneyard is unfortunately not depicted).

El Paso.

West Texas, here we must be near @Gypsy Pilot´s home.

Hmm, I got to find out what this structure is...

Descending over Austin. OpenLC does its job...

Turning into final over north Houston.

The pilot´s view...

ATC gave me the 15R today.

Finally, taxing to the cate - to meet a colleague.

29 pictures. Might be my record. Do I have to say sorry for taking your time?

However, the trip will be continued from Houston. With shorter flights, I promise.

Welcome to the OpenLC party Gerold , we thought you would never make it .:P:D

Cheers

Took me tome time to get the invitation sorted out, and to have my outfit correct. But now I´ll have some drinks there.

Gerold, this is awesome.  I love the way you mix the real and sim, sometimes hard to tell them apart.  Very good idea and I love it!

Do you also have Orbx SCA?

And where did you get that 757?

Thanks.

Jack

Boy do I feel sheepish.  I should have paid closer attention to the cockpit and the winglets!  Still and all, extremely nice set.

Thanks for setting me straight, I might have to buy this one.

As already told here, the later (second) part of the simmed flight was done with OpenLC and the Aerosoft A321, comfortable for a mid-range flight. Your idea to use a 757 is also very good (I have the QW).

Some of the take-off shots were done with SCA only (before OLC release), and I did them with a PMDG 777.

The real flight was done with a 737-800, but I do not have that type...

So the winglets would be confusing anyway.

Looks like the Aerosoft A321 to me.

Thanks for the detective´s work!

Not to distract too much from the screenshots, but I'm sure he'd agree the 'Bus is a must have!

It is, indeed.

That structure you were curious about is an oil field.

Each one of those bare earth areas contains a pump jack.

We have thousands of them here in West Texas.

Dale, thank you very much for the info. For the northern German guy here this was new... learning is part of the travelling, even in virtual!

Another enthralling mix and match set Gerold.

So interesting to see one of your real life flight recreated in the FS world.

Looking forwards to the next one.

Thank you, Martyn. The next ones will come, don´t worry...

Finally you got LC NA installed! Nice RL/SIM comparison shots.

Downloading was the hard job, just followed by finding out that FSDT had done updates to KIAH & GSX in parallel (next series of DLs and installations...).

Thanks for your compliment!
